Posted:  Nov. 30, 2014

Over the Line (Alpha Ops, #2)The last time James Walker saw Beth Garcia, he was carrying her off the battlefield. A year later, he runs into her as she’s completing her last physical therapy appointment before she can be deployed again. She’s still sexy as hell, but just as prickly and hard-headed as she was when they first met.

An arranged rock climbing weekend together quickly turns into a nightmare family wedding after a panicked phone call from his sister about mysterious and ominous emails she’s been receiving.

Beth, thinking she’s going rock climbing for the weekend, is surprised when she realizes the biggest rock she’ll be facing is the one James needs her to wear. And while trying to protect James’s sister, she’ll also have to lie to James’s father, the Director of the CIA, about who she is, jeopardizing her carefully planned career. And while she does owe James her life, he’s in for a wild ride if he thinks he can get away with this deception unscathed…

HUBBY'S REVIEW:
In this story the two main characters are in the military and they have not seen each other since a year ago when James Walker, a Para Rescuer for the Air Force, carried, Beth Walker, to the helicopter. A year later they run into each other at a physical therapy center which is her last session. They decide afterwards to meet up the next weekend to go rock climbing, but on the way there he receives a call from one of his sisters asking him to come home for her wedding. Upon hearing the conversation, Beth talks him into going but she must be his date. During this weekend both are going to find out more about each other than they wanted too, but in the end they are happy. He also tells Beth the family secret that they are rich and that floors her, until she gets there and she did not know how rich he was talking about. She then finds out that only one of his sisters knows the he is actually in the Special Forces. So this makes for a good story with a lot of action between all of the characters. Another good book by this Author. I got this book from net galley.

THE JOB

THE JOB                          JANET EVANOVICH & LEE GOLDBERG

The Job (Fox and O'Hare, #3)The FBI had one demand when they secretly teamed up Special Agent Kate O’Hare with charming con man Nicolas Fox—bring down the world’s most-wanted and untouchable felons. This time it’s the brutal leader of a global drug-smuggling empire. The FBI doesn’t know what their target looks like, where he is, or how to find him, but Nick Fox has a few tricks up his sleeve to roust this particular Knipschildt chocolate–loving drug lord.

From the streets of Nashville to the back alleys of Lisbon, from the rooftops of Istanbul to the middle of the Thames, Nick and Kate chase their mark. When they find themselves pitted against a psychopathic bodyguard and a Portuguese enforcer who gets advice from a pickled head, they decide it’s time to enlist some special talent—talent like a machete-wielding Somali pirate, a self-absorbed actor, an Oscar-winning special effects artist, and Kate’s father Jake, a retired Special Forces operative. Together they could help make this Fox and O’Hare’s biggest win yet . . . if they survive.

HUBBY'S REVIEW:
The Job by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg is a 2014 Bantam/ Random House publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of my favorite series at the moment. I love the plots, the dialogue and the chemistry between Nick and Kate. The stories are humorous in places, tense in others, always filled with action making it impossible to stop turning pages. If you like books that involve clever cons, taking down sleazeballs, and a little romance, you have got to check into this series. I think everyone could enjoy these books.

Nick is an incredibly crafty art thief paying his penalty by working undercover with the FBI. This is how he and Kate wind up working together. It is Kate's job to keep Nick in check, which is a very big challenge. When a series of art pieces are stolen, it looks like Nick is up to his old tricks, but Kate knows right away he is being framed. This investigation leads them to an international drug ring and to one of Nick's former partners in crime, a woman he has a history with and owes a big favor to. An elaborate plot to reel in the baddies was one of the best adventures to date. Being in on the scheme was part of the fun, since the reader gets to see how it's all set up and then we get the pleasure of seeing if it will all go as planned. Of course the story would not be complete without Kate's dad, Jack, who pops in to give his daughter a hand. Jake, of course is one my favorite characters.
In this third book, Kate sinks a little further away from her strictly “by the book” rules, which was curious. This is a character development I really liked, since in real life, not everything is either black or white. Seeing the big picture has Kate learning to go with the flow more. Of course Nick is a huge influence on her even if she is still in denial about her feelings for him.

This series really does get better with each installment. I am falling hopelessly in love with Nick Fox! Relentlessly entertaining. I loved it!! 5 stars!

My Thoughts Wifey:  Okay, Hubby had to have loved this book for him to not only give this a side not of his own but to put how many stars  he gives this book.  Worth checking out guys and gals.  Just a thought.

Can they finally put aside their differences and find happiness together…forever?
HUBBY'S REVIEW:
This is a fun and fast paced story about a couple that is divorced, Loretta, and Jackson. Jackson, still lives in Texas, on his Ranch but now their daughter has decided to forgo her last year of college and stay at the ranch as well. Her mother Loretta, comes in from Oklahoma, with the plan of talking her into going back to school to finish her last year. What she was not expecting the pull to the ranch as well as the strong pull with Jackson and the way their marriage ended by her driving away. Rosie the cook and the character that tells it likes it is, makes this story go and gives it the push at times that it needs. This is fun and at the same time a story about family and working together and coming together as a team on a ranch and all working when the time calls for it. A good fast paced and fun loving story, with great characters. I really enjoyed this book. I got this book from net galley.

DAYS OF RAGE

DAYS OF RAGE                                           BRAD TAYLOR

Days of Rage (Pike Logan, #6)The Taskforce is used to being the hunter, but this time they’re the hunted.

Intent on embroiling the US in a quagmire that will sap its economy and drain its legitimacy, Russia passes a potential weapon of mass destruction to Boko Haram, an extreme Islamic sect in Nigeria. A relic of the Cold War, the Russian FSB believes the weapon has deteriorated and is no longer effective, but they are wrong. Boko Haram has the means for mass destruction, which will be set loose upon a multitude of unsuspecting innocents on one of the world’s grandest stages.

Trying to solve the riddle of who might be stalking them, Pike Logan and the Taskforce have no idea what’s been set in motion; but there’s another secret from the Cold War buried in the Russian FSB, and exposing it will mean the difference between life and death—not only for Pike and his partner, Jennifer, but for perhaps millions more around the globe.

HUBBY'S REVIEW:

This is another Pike Logan, book and in this one the taskforce is being attacked instead of the other way around. A older Russian Vladimir the impaler, is form the old KGB and is now working with a younger man named Yuri and another named Dimitri. The last two have been able too raid our FSB and put all of our information new and old onto a drive and are looking at selling it to the highest bidder and causing America to go into a down fall. The team is sent to Bulgaria, and that is when a team member is targeted, and then they are put on high notice. They then also start working with the Israelis who also are looking for those three men. Once the story gets going you then find out that there is a mole in the U.S. government, and though this is only my second book of his that I have read, I was surprised by who it was. There is a lot of action and new characters that were brought in that made this a quick and enjoyable read. I like the female character of the Israeli Mossad agent, she along with the Jennifer and Pike kept the story moving along at a fast pace. A very good book. I got this book from net galley.
