Interview:

Rad-Reader:  For those who haven’t read this series why baseball?

Katie: OMG, the question is why not? Have you seen these guys? See attached.

Rad-Reader:  I love to read about strong women characters in stories.  This one had one with Nikki.  How did you come up with her persona? Was Nikki fashioned after anyone you know or several that you know?

Katie: I knew her right away. To stand up to a group of bad boy baseball players? She had to be tough. But she also reminded me a lot of Andi Dorfman on The Bachelorette: beautiful, smart, funny. And sexy.

Rad-Reader:  The teams antics were so real, too real in fact.  Were you around a group of guys to know how they banter?  Like brothers?  Because you nailed it.

Katie:thank you. Yes, I grew up with a bunch of brothers who are funny and busting each other is their way of showing affection.  Also I am a huge Phillies fan, and they are known for pranks. I realize I write more realistic men than some other authors;  for me that is the challenge. How do you take a bad boy like Jake, and win him over?

Rad-Reader:  The mean spiritedness of the team and the things that they pulled were awfully hurtful.  Do you really think that the upper management would allow that stuff to even go on in MLB?

Katie: I think Jake explains it best when he tells Nikki the team sees her as an equal, and is treating her like one of the boys.

Rad-Reader:  Why didn’t Jake just tell Nikki up front what was going on each time he could not be there on time to pick her up for their dates?  Was it a guy not thinking or was he trying to not make her mad?

Katie: Guy thinking--abso! Like I said, I have brothers and work in a male dominated industry. More then once I've had the . . . emmm, did you actually tell her???

Rad-Reader:  Why didn’t Jake think to bring the boy and his mom to live with his own mother who could have used some looking after?

Katie: Most guys I know struggle when it comes to Mom's care. Jake especially. he doesn't understand her, and doesn't know what to do. But he cares--hence driving for over an hour to find out she only wanted something planted.

Rad-Reader:  Will there be more about his mother later on?  She is truly someone in need but was kind of just left out there.  At least that was my thought.

Katie: what a nice idea! I will have to think about that. I was thinking about Jake having commitment issues. You always see that in books and movies, and they never explain it. The more I thought about him, the more I realized he had an expectation about women because of his mother.

Rad-Reader:  If your book was made into a movie who would you want to play:

 Jake: Warren Christie

Nikki: Lacey Chabert

Pete: Gerard Butler

Natalie: Jennifer Love Hewitt

Joaquin: Pierce Gagnon

Katie:   OMG, you've cast them so perfectly! Love!! Jake is blonde, so thinking young Brad Pitt. But otherwise you nailed it!
Jake:

Nikki:  Andi Dorfman

Pete:
Natalie:
Joaquin:

Rad-Reader:  What would the theme song to this movie be if it would become one?  Or did you listen to one that makes you think of this book now?

Katie:
Centerfield (Put me in Cold) by John Fogerty!

From Nikki's pov? Hit me with Your Best Shot! By Pat Benetar

Rad-Reader:  Where can our readers find you on the web?

Rad-Reader:  Where can they buy your books?

Katie: Amazon, etc!

We would like to thank Katie for being with us and for writing such a fun book to read.  She has those kind of characters that you just get so invested with and you don't mind taking the time.  We hope you come back again soon and see who we might have next to interview. But we count our blessings that Katie has joined the 1 Rad-Reader family.
Thanks again Katie,
Char, Pat & Dezi

Distance by Andrea HeltsleyLexi has sworn off guys for good.
She’s always been a hot mess, but accidentally finding her boyfriend of three years cheating on her is just too much for her to handle.
All she wants is to get this summer done and over with, so she and her best friend Elena can travel cross country for college. Then she will finally be free of this town, the friends that dropped her in favor of her ex, and her klutzy reputation.
Lexi's policy was working perfectly, until a guy named Mason comes to her rescue. Not once but twice in one night. For once, her mishaps have led to something good.
She’s feeling things that scare her, but she’s drawn to him. Can Mason break through her walls, or will she stick to her plan and steer clear of him?
This is a new adult romantic comedy.
Recommended for ages 17+ due to mature content.

MY REVIEW:
Your first is always special or at least we all hope it is.  Lexi May was holding out even with dating her boyfriend Jameson for the last three years of high school, she was a hold out.  On the day of their graduation after checking with her BFF, Elena, to see if she knew where he was she started calling to no response.
With students in a mad rush she got plastered against the brick wall getting a run in her nylons.  She decided to get out of them and go pee at the same time.  The restrooms were over crowded due to the event so she went to the ones farthest away.  She was almost to the door on her way out when she hears sexual moaning of male and a female.  She is like “GROSS!”  It was when the male spoke words that she knew who it was.  YUP!  You got it her own personal scumbag and now ex Jamieson.
Needless to say they broke up.  After a month of tears and old memories filled with pain Elena couldn’t take it anymore. I was Henry’s annual summer bash and she was not going to let them miss it.  She said she didn’t want to go but Elena said she would drag her if she had to.  Since she always got what she wanted we went.  All was going well after several songs that they danced their hearts out.  Lexi needed some fresh air and who does she run into on the front porch making out?  You got it again, Jamieson and Christy.  When Jamieson called out to her it was just too damn much she just walked off down the street she would not give them the satisfaction to let them see her cry.  She finds a nice dark front yard to sit at the curb and balls her eyes out.
She sends a text to Elena it was time to go because she just couldn’t go back to Henry’s.  She closes her eyes and begins to realize how she was glad she broke up with Jamieson that he didn’t deserve her.  She closes her eyes to let that sink in when she feels Elena walk up and sit next to her.  But when she slumps into her she realizes it’s not her at all.  They smelled male and was hard bodied.  She was about to yell thinking it was Jamieson when it was the most gorgeous guy she ever saw when she opened her eyes.  She started to freak when he spoke and asked if she was okay.  His voice was so calming to her.  Like being at home.  For some reason she wasn’t afraid, she was completely drawn to him.  He introduced himself as Mason, Henry’s friend since they were kids and their moms were kids.
From that moment on Lexi’s life changed. All that she knew would be altered by meeting Mason.  She couldn’t get him off her mind but since she was going away at the end of summer to go to college it wouldn’t be wise to start a new relationship.  So, friendship it was…or was it?
You will have to read and see for yourself.  Lexi and Elena get into and do things as a parent I would not recommend.  Yet as a youth I could see them happening.  Poor Lexi is accident prone so it is always a comedy of errors with her.
I give this 5 stars.  Provided by Net Galley.

WHERE WE BELONG

WHERE WE BELONG                               EVE CONNELL
Posted:  March 27, 2015

Where We Belong by Eve ConnellOne man diving into the past.

One woman emerging from the depths.

At the age of seventeen, Amelia Baide won silver at the Olympic Games and was the second-fastest woman in the pool. Then one tragic night she crashed into a lake and was dragged out without a pulse. Now twenty-four, she is still haunted by it and hasn’t swum again. Until this year’s anniversary of the accident. It is a day unlike any other and a strange turn of events finds Amelia back at a swimming pool.

Harry Jamieson had eyes for one girl while women and the media had eyes for him. As a trainer of Olympic athletes, he was an in-demand man. Until one boozy morning after … But from bad luck to pure chance he runs into his old flame, Amelia, at a swimming pool no less. She doesn’t remember a thing from the night of the crash.

And Harry knows every single secret.

The pair joins forces—a comeback for Amelia and Harry’s ultimate coaching opportunity. But dodging waves is hard to do, and even the strongest swimmer may sink.

Where We Belong is a second-chance love story for young and old, for swimming enthusiasts and romantics at heart.

MY REVIEW:
Amelia Blade has issues old and new.  The present issues are she is in a loveless relationship to a guy she is engaged to.  It seems they are together out of habit and comfort as in they know the good and bad of the relationship.  They don’t have to work at it and the comfort in they don’t have to go out and look for anyone else until they are ready or one fell in their lap.
Yet, Amelia knew that something was missing considering that Kristopher Siddall, her fiancé, would rather be out with his friends than with her.  It was another anniversary with him and he was once again trying to push her buttons to get out of spending it with her.  Last year he had spent it with the BOYS, his POSSE, and the GUYS!  So, when after asking several times if he had gotten everything he needed out of the bathroom and was he finished in there and him saying he had.  He started pounding on the door the minute she was about to put her foot into the shower wanting his after shave Making her livid.  She tells him he will have to wait he pounds louder and harder.
He basically acts like a two year old.  Yelling that it would only take her a minute and that she was being a baby for just not handing it out.  That finally made her break.  She threw on her clothes, threw open the door and told him he could have the whole damn thing bathroom and all.  She grabbed her keys and purse and left.  She drove until she ran out of gas.  She ends up walking back to a place about a mile back.
When she gets to the area she is hot, sweaty, and thirsty.  She sees the swim arena and decides that it had been 6 years to long since she had been in a pool after her accident where she almost drowned and died.  Well she did die but we won’t get into that.  She runs into someone that she use to swim with and he greets her and offers her some swim gear.  She goes in and puts it on it takes her a few tries to finally get in but when she does it is heaven in a lot of ways and hell in others.
Meanwhile, that same morning Harry Jamieson is once again waking up in an unfamiliar room.  Except this one looks like Barney exploded everywhere there were so many varying shades of purple.  The worst of it is he couldn’t remember the name of the chick he was in bed with.  He thought it was Vivienne or Vivienna or was it Vicky. He crawls out of her bed to use the restroom looks back in at her and says something about her being, a little crazy, purple Vivienna.  Then stopped himself when looking at her he noticed how young she was and how he hoped she was at least of age.
I guess he not only finds out her age, her first and last name, but who her daddy is.  He also learns that just because someone looks like they’re asleep doesn’t mean that they really are.  Turns out her daddy is the leading sponsor that owns his contract for the ads, commercials, etc… that he does to make a living.  Now he calls to yell at Benny his agent.  Who wants to meet with him out of town where they can talk without any press or others to get in their business?  They happen to meet you guessed it at the same swim arena where Amelia takes her first swim.
See where they go from here…because now they have a past that needs to be dealt with and a future to look forward too if they can work it out.  She is now of age to make her own decisions.  That’s only if the truth of the past can truly be revealed and the actors in the nightmares of her past life can tell the truth about her accident before and after.  So far Harry is the only one wanting to reveal all yet Amelia is not ready and the other two have issues.
This is an amazingly complex story with a great deal of issues that pose a great deal of thought about each character.  The thing I liked best is that the universe felt that Amelia and Harry had healed enough be bring them to the point of reconnecting them.  They were both stronger than they knew and ever were when they were when they were younger.  This is a must read.  I give this 5 stars.   Provided by Net Galley.  Follow us at: www. 1rad-readerreveiws.com
