In Search of Sam by Kristin ButcherRaised by her mother, eighteen-year-old Dani Lancaster only had six weeks to get to know her father, Sam, before he lost his battle with cancer. It was long enough to love him, but not long enough to get to know him especially since Sam didn't even know himself.

Left on the doorstep of an elderly couple when he was just days old, and raised in a series of foster homes, Sam had no idea who his parents were or why they had abandoned him. Dani is determined to find out. With nothing more than an address book, an old letter, and a half-heart pendant to guide her, she heads into B.C.'s Interior to Kamloops, Barriere, Merritt, and finally to a small, forgotten town teeming with secrets and hopefully answers."

MY REVIEW:
This is a wonderful story of paying it forward.  As well as a eye opening reality of how secrets can affect so many lives.  This story will have you smiling and tearing up and sometimes on the same page.
We are in the front seat of this unfolding story as Dani Lancaster.  She is searching for a part of herself she already thought she knew.  Only to find out a secret had been kept from her.  Her mother who is on her fifth marriage was in love with a man called Sam Swan.  She became pregnant by him but they do not end up together although both their hearts still belonged to each other.  Dani was the result of that love.
On her early completion of high school she is not only handed her diploma but she is told that there is an uncle that she has never met and has come back into the fold.  It was working until she was helping to clean up around her so called uncle’s house and well she found medicine bottles in the trash.  She called her mom to talk to her about them.  In turn her mom called her dad and said you are going to have to talk to her for she knows something is up since she found the medicine bottles in the trashed can.  Now the stay with her father had come at the perfect time because that was when she was going to be marrying her 5th husband.
Not 5 weeks later Sam dies.  4 months after that she gets a letter from a lawyer saying that Sam left her some stuff she will need to come sign for it.  She would have to travel to Kamloop, B.C.  To get it from Vancouver.  Her mom said no way basically.  Her step-dad said let’s do this…
The next thing you know her and her step-dad were at the hotel near where she needed to be.  He flies home and she drives her new car to the lawyers.  As she thought her left her the property, the trailer, and the truck.  What she didn’t expect was the sizable sum that could pay for university and a key for a safety deposit box.  His lawyer said to deposit the check and take what was in the box out.  So, she does.  She’s on over-load so takes it back to the hotel and goes through everything there.
She finds minor clues to who and where her dad may have come from.  You see while her dad was alive she did find out that on the day he was born he was left on the doorstep of an elderly couple.  They were so afraid he would be taken away from them they told know no one that they had him until he had to go to school.  So they had to let him go and so they did which means they had to tell someone.  Yes, he was taken from them.  They never saw him again.
There was a letter to her, his wallet with a hidden picture, and a crudely cut in half heart on a chain, and an address book with one number she thinks might help.  With these clues Dani starts a rewarding adventure she wishes hadn’t have cost so dearly by cost her dad’s life though.
This was just a wonderful read.  I give this 5++++ Stars.

Breaking Bad (Bad Boys of the Bay #1)
Detective Stevie Cavanaugh is one tough cookie…with a sexy but vulnerable secret…

Law enforcement royalty, Stevie Cavanaugh’s fate was determined before she was born: follow her father’s lead, retiring only after becoming Sheriff. But as capable and strong as she is, one man dared to awaken her dark sensuality, only to leave her aching for more. Now he’s back, the baddest cop in the whole damn town, distracting her from the most important case of her career—capturing the Cain killer.

For Special Agent Jack Thornton, like Stevie, police work is in his blood. So is Stevie, the woman he left behind after just one perfect night. Now he’s forced to work with her to catch a killer. Only he wants more of Stevie, too.

According to Stevie, she’s not interested. But Jack knows her deepest darkest sexual secret—that while she’s a woman used to giving command, she also takes great pleasure in submitting—to him. Despite how things ended seven years prior, Jack is determined to take Stevie to the next level.

When the fire between them becomes an inferno, they’ll both savor the burn...

MY REVIEW:
He was a training officer at the police academy, and she was newly graduated and with all of the flirting and indo endues. They finally have a night of hot passion. When she wakes up in the morning he gone, gone from her apartment, the city, and her life, but not from her mind. Fast forward seven years and Jack Thornton, is at is best friend’s wedding still thinking about her and his friend is telling him to bite the bullet and go to San Francisco and face her and get her out of his system or see if there is something for them to work on. She is Stevie, or Steven James Cavanaugh. The youngest of three children all girls but her father was expecting a boy so she was raised as one and is now following the footsteps of five generations of Cavanaugh’s into the police force. While working on a stake out she has a moment where she allows a thought back to him and then he is there in her stake out and talking to her and she is going crazy besides not hearing from him in seven years she now believes that because he is FBI that he is going to take over her case. But he is telling her that they will work together and then at the same time he is trying to win her back while explaining what happened when he left. This book has a lot of action in the bedroom and in solving the case and also her putting up with him to get over his fears, but this makes for a good story and it was a fast read because it felt like it never really slowed down. Overall a good book. I got this book from net galley.  I give this 4 stars.

SUMMER ON LOVER'S ISLAND

SUMMER ON LOVER'S ISLAND                    DONNA ALWARD

Summer on Lovers' Island by Donna AlwardLizzie Howard's life is close to perfect, until her father's death brings her world crashing down around her. With her reputation and heart in tatters, she reluctantly agrees to temporarily take over her best friend's practice in scenic Jewell Cove, Maine—a position that's a world away from the high pressure career she once loved.

Josh Collins is no stranger to pain. After losing his wife, he moved home looking to start over. One of two doctors at the town clinic, his sleepy coastal practice is just what he needed. Until Lizzie Howard arrives. Lizzie is everything Josh wanted to get away from: brash, ambitious and not interested in a quiet life in a quiet town. But as the sparks fly between these two doctors, they realize that sometimes opposites really do attract.

MY REVIEW:
Lizzie Howard is turning thirty and a nice relaxing weekend at her BFF’s is just what the doctor ordered.  Only her friend Charlie who hasn’t seen Lizzie since her wedding to Dave, really has no idea how true that is.  All Charlie knows is Lizzie is finally coming to Jewell’s Cove for a much needed visit for both of them.  They talked often but it’s never the same as being together in person.
Charlie is due very soon to have her first baby.  She has been doing a hard sell to get Lizzie to take her spot at the local clinic.  She wants her to take her spot while she is off for maternity leave.  Only Lizzie has put her off for months she would die being cooped up in a small town with no night life, nice restaurants, or theaters.  She is a city girl all the way.
Once she is in town though Charlie’s gloves are off and her big guns are out.  She first supplies her with tea and the best sweet treats from the local bakery, then she takes her to town to shop and show her the friendliness of the people and the town’s charm.  From there she takes her to a great place for lunch where she says really nothing about the job. But then she has Lizzie drive past the office and gives her the run down.  With a full stomach and fresh look of the town and its people she says what about a place to live and Charlie’s place is not an option.
Charlie was prepared she took her to Tom’s place that he just moved out of when he got married.  When she saw it and she could see the ocean she was a goner.  She really asked Charlie questions about the business.  They go back to Charlie’s.
Lizzie was holding secrets that her ex-doctor Ian knew the truth about.  So the thought about taking the job to clear her head and find herself again became real.  Six weeks later she was back and ready to work.  When she arrives the first day she does not make Brownie points with her new boss Joshua Collins.  She first called him the janitor, then she sounded snobbish when she spoke to him.  Not a good way to start.  But it’s all Charlie’s fault.  When she said he was a widowed doctor she was thinking old.  While Charlie had to be laughing her a—off.
Josh was far from old.  He is tall, tanned, blond, muscled, and sexy as all hell.  In fact when she is nervous she tends to sound snobbish, it is a coping skill.  Josh had lost his wife about two years ago now.  From what Charlie says he doesn’t date yet, his favorite things are sailing and fishing.  Match made in heaven.  NOT!!!
But it really didn’t matter she wasn’t staying at least not permanently.  Then people like Josh’s sisters and family and friends start roping her in.  More and more they get thrown in after work activities.  So, one day Josh asks her to go sailing.  Truly rocking both their worlds.  I so enjoyed the dynamics of this couple and all of Josh’s friends and family.  Lizzie and Charlie’s relationship is becoming more the norm where friends are more family then family.  You can’t miss with this read.  I give this 4 stars.  Provided by Net Galley.

WANT IT

WANT IT(RULE BREAKERS #3                JENNIFER CHANCE
Posted:  May 28, 2015

For Erin Connelly, being a good girl isn’t such a bad thing. She’s working her dream job at a Boston art gallery and staying out of trouble, which is more than she can say for her deadbeat mom. Unfortunately, her mother’s latest misadventure lands her in the clutches of a Mexican drug lord. Now the only person who can save her is the one man Erin has no business asking for help: the sexy-as-sin army ranger who just so happens to be her former high school sweetheart.

Zander James is no gentleman—and no officer, either, thanks to Erin. Four years ago, she made a call that terminated his highest aspirations . . . and their relationship. He’s never forgiven her, but when he learns that Erin’s embarking on a half-baked rescue mission, he sure as hell can’t let her go alone. Now, with a treacherous enemy lying in wait, the electrifying tension between them may just be Zander’s undoing. Because while he may be able to keep Erin alive, he can’t promise to keep his hands off her.

HUBBY'S REVIEW:
This story is about two people who have not seen each other since the end of their graduation from high school. One terrible night for Erin, who was dating Zander, but could never get him to stop doing risks. He races another guy when there is an accident and she calls 911 seeing blood thinking the other boy is seriously hurt. The ambulance comes but also the police and Zander takes a swing at one of them and is arrested. Realizing that Erin his girlfriend was the one that called he goes off on her and says he never wants to see her and that his hopes of going to West Point are now ruin because of what she did by calling 911. Four years goes by and she is invited to the funeral of Zanders father this works out good for her because she wants to ask him a question. Her mother has gotten herself into trouble in Mexico and she is going down there to try to handle it. Zander enlisted right after he was released from jail and then went to boot camp saying no good byes to anyone he still can’t get Erin and that night out of his mind. He is now an Army Ranger, so when she asks to talk to him he says come to the house. Once he sees her he finds himself still attracted to her and though she does not ask for his help to go with her he does. This gives them time to work through both of their issues because she did not tell him everything about her mother and how her life has been since the age of 6. As you go along in the story it is to young people getting to really know each other and accepting each other and at the same time they are fighting at times with each other and the people that took her mother. This is a good story and I liked the characters and the way the author used this crisis to get them back together. Overall a good book. I got this book from net galley.  I give this 4 stars.

The NBA finals are set with Cleveland taking on Golden State. Should be a good series and who would have thought Cleveland would be in without Love, or Irving. I do think Irving will be playing in this series. Still at the beginning of the season the way Cleveland got off to such a slow start I really don’t think to many people had them to be where they are now and really they could win this and that really would be something for James but also for the city of Cleveland has not won a championship since the Browns won in 1964. This would really be a big win for them. For James this would add to his historic run of consecutive NBA finals appearances.
