With Pat

I saw this story a little while watching the Notre Dame vs Virginia football. It was about Jacob Rainey, who at one time was a top recruit at quarterback but then a freak play afterwards required them to amputate his leg above the knee. He did come back for his senior year and play quarterback but all of the schools that offered him a scholarship pulled the offer, but one Virginia. He does not take the field as a player but he is listed as student – coach. He of course wants to get out there and compete like everyone else and this keeps him close to the game he enjoys and gives him the time to still workout and learn. He leads quarterbacks through drills, edits films, compiles scouting reports and entertains recruits. They say there have been stories about him on ESPN but I never saw them and I thought that this was a good one about the young man and also about the head coach of Virginia, coach London.

Andie Marks, known as “Party Girl” in her college days, is now a whip-smart lawyer on the fast track to success. Determined to move on from a bad break-up, she joins her girlfriends for a wild bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas, promising to let her hair down just this once. Vegas is a blur of cocktails and blackjack, and in the middle of it all she meets Mack, a real-life cowboy with a winning hand and an irresistible body. They get lucky in the casino and luckier back at the hotel, a hot night of passion that was definitely not part of Andie’s life plan. By dawn Mack is gone and all she has to remember their one-night romance is a hangover and a pile of casino chips. Or so she thinks…

Mack had let Addie go when she didn't come down in Vegas and he didn't go after her where she lived and worked.  He just knew she would have to find him one day.  When she did he knew he would have his moment to express what he felt and she would be confronted with what she felt...

I really need you to sign those papers.”
“No.” …
“You don’t love me, Mack.”
“How do you know who I love and who I don’t love?”
“It’s not a second chance, Mack. It can’t be.”He sat up next to me and pulled me to his side with his arm across my shoulders. Touching his head to mine he spoke in a low voice. “Yes, it can. We’re still married. Why can’t we just take a shot at making it work like a real marriage?” …
“We’re going to have sex again, aren’t we?”“He gave me a wicked smile.
“Hell yes, we are.”
And then he lowered me to the ground.”

Elle Casey, a full-time hybrid author (hybrid, meaning I publish some of my books myself and some with a traditional publisher – Montlake Romance). I published my first novel WRECKED on January 1, 2012 and have published on average a book every six weeks since.  I quit my jobs as a lawyer and teacher early in 2013 to focus full time on my writing, and I couldn’t be happier.  I love my work and even more so, my readers!   I’ve been reading since I was 4 and have read probably over a couple thousand books in my lifetime.  I love, love, love books!!  I can’t tell you how many things I’venot gotten done and chores I’ve ignored because I was too busy reading, and how many nights I’ve stayed up until the sun began to rise, finishing up a good book. I don’t have much time for reading these days, what with all the writing I’ve been doing, but my favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, sci fi dystopian, and romance of all types.  I used to adore thriller and horror novels; when I was younger, Stephen King was my guy. I just love his writing style and the way he makes characters come alive on the page.
In 2010, I threw all caution to the wind, checked out of corporate life, and moved the family to southern France where I now live with my husband, three children, a dog, and two horses —  surrounded by vineyards, ancient Roman ruins, and wonderful, warm people I am proud to call friends.  I’ve renovated an old barn and purchased a vineyard — 2014 marked our first harvest. My life is simply crazy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
