Last week former downhill skier Bill Johnson passed away at the age of 55. In 1984 he became the first American man to win an Olympic gold medal in the downhill ski event. Because of a severe head injury from a skiing crash in 2001. Johnson after his victory in 1984, got married, and they had three children. He won two World Cup events, but then everything started going downhill. Not in just skiing with injuries, but with fighting with coaches, a son passing away drowning in a hot tube. Then a divorce. Losing money and the people around him he decided to go back into competitive skiing when the crash happened and his life went, no pun intended, downhill with a brain injury. He was the first American that I remember going balls to the wall in the downhill and beating not only the world but also Phil and Steve Mahre, who also won medals in 84. So sad that he passed at a young age and lived his life like his skiing all out.

  1. this past weekend the two championship games went pretty much as expected with Denver winning the first game and carolina winning against Arizona. carolina really beat Arizona.

  2. I really think that the Denver Broncos defense won the game for them especially in the second half. If you really think about it Manning did nothing in the second half the defense made the plays to save the game.

  3. The Panthers really took it to Arizona, and blew the game wide open. Cam Newton played a good game and i really think that it is there year to win it all. i really don't see Denver winning the game.

  4. The Warriors in basketball had a good week beating Cleveland and San Antino each by 30 points and even though it is still early in the season it still was a statement.

  5. The statement by the Warriors last week made the Cavaliers fire their coach which had a record of 30 -11 and made it to the NBA finals last year. what a change and the new coach first game they lost. we will see how the rest of the season goes.

  9. this past tuesday Barney Hall the legendary voice for NASCAR passed away he was 83. I do remember listening to him call the races from the 70's on. Of course at that time i did not know who he was. i just like the racing. as a kid it was cool seeing fast cars and sometimes fights not in the pits but right there either at the start finish line or where a crash might have taken place. these were not pushing and shoving these were good old boys getting down to bare knuckles like on the school ground or in the back yard. Anyway he was the announcer for over 50
years he called his first Daytona in 1960, and only missed it 4 times in 57 years. he was also voted in the Motorsports Hall of in 2007. RIP.
