A COWBOY CHRISTMAS MIRACLE (Burnt Boot, Texas #4)

A COWBOY CHRISTMAS MIRACLE           CAROLYN BROWN

It will take a miracle bigger than the state of Texas for these two feuding families to survive the holidays!

Opposites might attract...
The Brennans and the Gallaghers put aside their one-hundred-year feud every Tuesday for their weekly poker game. This week, the stakes are sky-high. Goaded to recklessness, Declan Brennan bets one thousand dollars that he can woo the next woman to walk into the saloon. A minute later, fiery-haired Betsy Gallagher pushes through the doors. If Declan can tame this wild Gallagher, he'll have earned every penny.

If they don't kill each other first...
Betsy can outshoot anybody in Burnt Boot and loves ranching more than anything-until she falls for Declan. He's fallen for her too. But when she discovers what sparked their courtship, Declan will need a Christmas miracle to save his hide-and his heart.

HUBBY'S REVIEW:

This story opens up with the guys playing poker at the bar that is off limits to fighting. The game is slowing down and an argument ensues between Declan Brennan, and Tanner Gallagher and it involves the next girl that walks through the door. In walks Betsy Gallagher, Declan has always liked her but because of the feud they cannot be together. He must be with her in order to win the bet but at what cost. Now Betsy knows something is up in the bar but can’t figure it out. When the two of them come together later that night by chance they decide to come up with a plan to save the Christmas pageant since each family destroyed the other ones. Having to sneak around to get items only puts them together more and at same time they find out that they like some of the same things. The more time they spend together they begin to wish for the feud to be over. They come up with more ways to get together and you begin to route for them. This is a very good story that makes both families look at one another and decide what is important. I thoroughly enjoyed their time making a snowman, and also as you get to the end. A very good story that goes along with this series. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at: www.1rad-readerreviews.com

ONE TEXAS COWBOY TOO MANY (Burnt Boot, Texas #3)

ONE TEXAS COWBOY TOO MANY                 CAROLYN BROWN

For good girl Leah Brennan, the only thing worse than falling for the dark-eyed, tattooed Rhett O'Donnell would be falling for a member of the off-limits Gallagher clan—or maybe both.

All Leah wants is to please her grandmother and bring some peace to the feuding town of Burnt Boot. With Tanner Gallagher—her forbidden, childhood crush—flirting with her and sexy Rhett showing up wherever she goes, Leah soon realizes that this may not be as easy as it seems… Will love be enough to conquer her family's hundred-year-old feud with the Gallaghers?

HUBBY'S REVIEW:

This is a fast paced story about Leah Brennan who has always done what her grandmother has wanted her to do. Now though the guy she always thought she had a crush on Tanner Gallagher is starting to play with her mind more and more. She thinks it is because of the feud between the two families that has now gone to new heights. She also knows she is feeling different because she is almost 30 and she is still doing what her grandmother wants. This starts to change when Rhett O’Donnell comes riding into town on a Harley with horns attached to the front. A biker, cowboy, and tattooed she is taken by him the moment she sees him. Now she wants to get to know him and when she does he feels comfortable but also exciting. She is trying to sort out all of her emotions when her grandmother gives her an ultimatum of either moving off the ranch or stop seeing Rhett. What happens next is worth the read, along with the fight between the two grandmothers. This is a very good story, and you find out a little more about the characters. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

THE TROUBLE WITH TEXAS COWBOYS (Burnt Boot, Texas #2)

THE TROUBLE WITH TEXAS COWBOYS             CAROLYN BROWN

Can a girl ever have too many cowboys?

No sooner does pint-sized spitfire Jill Cleary set foot on Fiddle Creek Ranch than she finds herself in the middle of a hundred-year-old feud. Quaid Brennan and Tyrell Gallagher are both tall, handsome, and rich . . . and both are courting Jill to within an inch of her life. She's doing her best to give these feuding ranchers equal time-too bad it's dark-eyed Sawyer O'Donnell who makes her blood boil and her hormones hum...

HUBBY'S REVIEW:

Jill Cleary has gone back to her Aunts ranch to work, and now two families that have been feuding since forever are after her hand in marriage. Really all they want is the water rights that sits on her property that everyone knows she will inherit. The two families Brennan, and Gallagher, and so far they will go to any lengths to get it. The problem is that she does not like either one her eyes are set on Sawyer O’Donnell who has been hired by her aunts to help during the summer. Working together and sharing a bunk house they get to know one another and as the feuding continues they come up with a plan to avoid her having to go to the other ranches. This also means that they spend more time together, and when her aunt Polly breaks her ankle they are now working the ranch, the store and the bar. Being together is what they are really doing, but will the other one tell the other one how they really feel. Read the story to find out. Plenty of fighting, drinking, and just a fun story. A good book. I got this book from netgalley.com. I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at:

The story opens with Fiona Logan going home and needing to admit to her family that her marriage is over and has been for a year. Mainly though it is about Fiona getting past her failed marriage and Jud deciding to let someone in, in his life. They work this out with having to help an older couple whose home burnt down. HUBBY'S REVIEW;

This is at times a very dark and gritty story about three boys who become friends by the most unusual circumstances. Tony who the story focuses on is being bullied at school and at home by his father. It is not until one day in front of church that he loses it and beats up the bully at school. This leads them to becoming friends. It is just them until a new kid shows up at school and now he is being picked on and Tony and Vincent went to protect the new kid his name was Salvatore and it turned out that he is the son of the Philadelphia crime boss. Things are going good until an incident one and Tony takes the fall for Salvatore. He ends up in jail and what happens to him changes him forever. When he gets out he can’t go home so at 13 he is living on the streets surviving. From there the story takes you on a journey that sees him grow up, lose people along the way and back to Tony and Sal who want to help him but just don’t know how. Even after he saves the life of the son of the crime boss he is always one step behind. He does find love and acceptance through people he meets and it is those characters that make the story. Though there is violence, death it is done in a way that goes with the story and brings to understand Tony more. Overall a good book. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at:

LAST KISS OF SUMMER (Destiny Bay #1)

LAST KISS OF SUMMER                            MARINA ADAIR

He's one bad apple she just can't resist . . .

Kennedy Sinclair never dreamed she'd own a pie shop and an orchard in a small town like Destiny Bay. But nestled between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean, it's the perfect place to cross something off her "Life's short so eat the icing first" list and start her life over from scratch. Her shop, Sweetie Pies, is famous for its hot, flaky apple turnovers and sinfully delicious deep dish pie. For Kennedy though, nothing is more enticing than the tall, strapping slice of temptation who keeps coming back for more.

Luke Callahan is determined to make his hard cider business a success. With his beloved father's cider recipe and the opportunity of a lifetime in his grasp, he'll stop at nothing to get this deal done. There's just one catch: he needs Kennedy's apples. At first, he thinks it'll be as easy as pie to charm those apples right off her trees. But Kennedy isn't falling for his tender charms or his wicked ways. When the negotiations start heating up, so do the feelings they have for each other. And it takes just one kiss to seal the deal . . .

HUBBY'S REVIEW:

Kennedy Sinclair is waiting for her boyfriend at a dance studio for practice since they are going to South America. Plans are changed when she hears the dance instructor call out the name Peter in Spanish and as she peaks through the door she sees that they are doing the horizontal tango up against the bar. Now back in her grandmother’s home and after some discussion she has agreed to purchase a pie shop in a small town of Destiney Bay. Once there she is working with the previous owners until the agreement is finally. She has also taken charge of a few acres of apple orchards and this is where the story takes an interesting turn. For Luke Callahan has been wanting that orchid for a few years and now figures it is his since his mom, and aunt are leaving the pie shop. His hard apple cider is starting to take off and he needs those apples to fill orders that he agreed to before having the apples. Turns out that the apples and the pie shop are together. He is upset and though he likes Kennedy he puts things in place to actually put her out of business, and when she finds out once again she has been taken by a man. This one hurts more because she really felt a connection with him and she thought he did too. Now realizing what he has done he does not know how to fix it. A very good story with good characters. HUBBY'S REVIEW:
This book opens up with a father on his deathbed and the four sons leaving to go find a bar to find a drunk man so they can pick a fight with someone. I was thinking that I was not going to like these characters right away. After the father passes they find out that he changed part of the will so that they would receive all of their money until they marry. Their mother explains what was going on in their father's mind, but they are all pissed and leave. Now you fast forward to a wedding that the eldest Cooper had already agreed to attend and there he meets Stormy, and they end up on his yacht and by the time he has awaken she is gone. Now six years later Cooper has built an airline company and still flies planes and drives fast cars, and can be rude when ordering coffee or just in general. Happens to be Stormy that he is rude to and the thing about it is he does not remember her. She of course remembers him. His uncle works as the meddler trying to put them together, and when she needs a place to stay she finally gives in. Cooper still does not remember her and when he does he acts like he doesn’t and then of course that again is her fault. There are times when I really like the story but there are other times when he is being such an ass I would not want my daughter to be with him. The outlining characters help with the story which overall is not bad. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 3 stars.

FORBIDDEN FLING (Wildwood #1)

FORBIDDEN FLING                                 SKYE JORDAN

When Wildwood’s chief building inspector, Ethan Hayes, shows up on the property, Delaney doesn’t recognize him. The last thing he wants to do is save the bar where his cousin died in a brawl. But the good boy from her past is all too willing to remind her of the bad girl she used to be. And one night of passion leaves them both in a compromising position.

The last place Ethan should be is in Delaney’s bed. Guilt, family pressure, and plans for a brewpub of his own make shutting down The Bad Seed his top priority…until his feelings for Delaney interfere. Because her future depends on the success of the bar’s renovation and his dreams are rooted in its failure, their forbidden romance may be destined for heartbreak.

HUBBY'S REVIEW:

Ethan Hayes is a building inspector by day and an independent microbrewery by night. He has been looking at an old piece of property that might be up for sale in a few months that has history for him. A relative died there in a bar fight and his family blames him because he was not there to stop it from happening, and since that night his life has not been his own. His day is sent on a whirl when the daughter of the previous owner comes back into town and she has been paying on the property, and the liquor license which is really what Ethan wants. Delaney Hart was at the bar that night and people have always blamed her for the fight. Now back in town Ethan is stopped dead in his tracks because he was always attracted to her, but felt she never noticed him. She always ran with the bad guys in town and was younger than him. Once she figures out who he is she is surprised that he always thought she was attractive. Now if they could both get pass the pass they would be okay. That is where the story really begins as they each hear the other one's story and realize neither of them have it easy and are really made for one another, but being in a small town will people let them be, and will his family leave them alone or force his hand to choose? Read the story to find out and be entertained as I was. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

And when Reb takes an interest in her, there’s no way she can resist his surprisingly tender touch. The one thing Emily won’t give up is her hard-won independence.

As president of the True Brothers MC, Reb owes a sacred debt of loyalty to the club, but his first priority is making sure that his son grows up right. Nobody messes with Reb, or anyone under his protection. Trouble is, how’s he supposed to defend Emily when she insists on going it alone? He’s willing to put his life on the line for her. Now, maybe, he needs to open his heart.

HUBBY'S REVIEW:

This is the second book in the series about the True Brothers MC. Emily who is Jessica’s friend from the first book has come into contact with Tucker who just happens to be the son of the president of the club. The night goes on and with no sign of the mother coming home she decides to find the father. Shortly she is in front of the club house calling Jessica to call her fiancĂ© Zeb to come out front. After a confrontation with him and then one with Reb the president she finds herself attracted to Reb. Who is also attracted to her but is going through a custody battle with Rhonda and is trying to keep a low profile, but wants to be with her as much as possible. Emily cannot understand why she would be attracted to this man, and his lifestyle, but when she sees him with Tucker she sees what a great dad he is. He also makes her tingle inside, and not just from a piercing he has. A fantastic story that also has characters from the first book and continues some of the same story line. A very good second book. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
