THIS IS OUR SONG

THIS IS OUR SONG                                        SAMANTHA CHASE

She knows him by reputation
Riley Shaughnessy knew that to stand out in his large family, he'd have to go big. Making a name for himself as a musician wasn't easy, but he followed his dreams to rock-star success. But the relentless expectations of fans is not helping the slump he's in now. So of course the person who attracts him is the woman who is not impressed by fame.

Which gives Riley Shaughnessy a lot to prove
Entertainment reporter Savannah Daly is completely unfazed by pretty-boy rock stars. She's just here to get her interview and write her story. But spending an entire month with the Shaughnessy's is going to show Savannah a side of Riley she never could have guessed.

PAT'S REVIEW;

This book is about Riley the singer of the family. Now his band has gone their separate ways and he is working on his solo album but it is not coming along. Trying to buy himself more time he agrees to the one thing he does not like doing; interviews. Entertainment reporter Savannah Daly was not looking forward to be assigned as the person to interview Riley. After complaining to her boss and losing she is looking forward to meeting what she expects to be an arrogant, spoiled, self-indulgent, rock star. She has never even listened to any of his band’s music. She is surprised the night before she is to meet him, to actually notice him sitting next to her at a little bar, restaurant along the beach. When later that same night she comes across him walking quickly not wanting to be recognized. She gives him a lift back to his vehicle and is wondering why he not has any security and is equally shocked to see a truck not a fancy sports car. The next day she is equally surprised when he makes them lunch and his house is something that she could see herself living in, especially the game room he has down stairs. The story picks up when she agrees to go back to his home town and actually likes his family. Her mom and dad show up and instead of helping to get out of something they also end up going. Now his writing is taking off along with the passion between them. Just when you think it will work out Riley blows it when they come back to L.A. and when he realizes his mistake he can’t find her for she quit her job. Now his album done and the record company wanting him to go on the road how is he going to find her? Read the book and find out what happens. A good story to go along with the rest of the series. WIND RIVER RANCHER (WIND RIVER VALLEY, #2)

WIND RIVER RANCHER                                LINDSAY McKENNA

Not so long ago, Reese Lockhart was commanding a company of Marines. Now his life is spiraling out of control. The Bar C ranch outside Jackson Hole, Wyoming may be his last chance to save himself . . .

Shaylene Crawford, an Afghanistan veteran herself, knows all too well the demons of PTSD—that’s why she’s determined to turn her family’s cattle ranch into a place where wounded warriors can work, find a home, and rebuild their souls. Her embittered father nearly drank and gambled the place away, but with help from a small crew of vets—including the newest arrival, the quietly compelling Reese Lockhart—she intends to hold on to her dream. And when someone tries to destroy that dream, Reese will do whatever it takes to defend her .

PAT'S REVIEW;

This is a good story about a veteran Shaylene Crawford a veteran who has come home to take over her family’s ranch after her father had a stroke. She has hired three vets as wrangler’s to help her on the ranch and to help them with their PTSD. She is dealing with own issues as well. Now a fourth veteran has shown up in town looking for work. Reese Lockhart was a Captain in the Marine Corps but PTSD forced him out of the corps and you find out that his wife also divorced him. Now looking for any type of work Shaylene decides to give him a job at the ranch. It turns out that he also has a degree in business and is able to help her go over her father’s books which he did not keep up. The story goes along you become familiar with the other men at the ranch and also her father who is in a home but is a piece of work in a bad way. When Reese steps in and stands up for Shaylene you can see he is coming back to himself as an officer, but also as someone who cares for her as well. Attracted to and she to him he is scared because of nightmares, and not wanting to hurt her. He does not think he is worthy to have another relationship because of his PTSD and the effects it did to his marriage. There are some characters from the first book that appear in this story that help this book along and give it the moments it needs for the story to move in the right direction. Without giving too much away this is a very emotional, but powerful book and issues other than PTSD are discussed like being verbally abused. Overall a very good story well written and very good characters. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

TALK COWBOY TO ME (LUCKY COWBOY'S #1)

TALK COWBOY TO ME                                  CAROLYNN BROWN

Adele O'Donnell knew that Double Deuce Ranch had to be hers the second she walked onto the property. Freshly divorced, she sees it as the perfect spot for her and the kids to start a new life. Remington Luckadeau was always a carefree playboy...until his suddenly orphaned nephews became his responsibility. The Double Deuce Ranch would be the perfect place to raise two boys. But some fiery woman is fighting him for it, and Remington is not sharing-no matter how the sparks fly when he and Adele are together.

PAT'S REVIEW;

I did not know if this story would work at first, but in the long run this is a very good book. Adele O’ Donnell and her two girls show up at a ranch hoping to buy it. At the same time is Remington Luckadeau with his two nephews that he raising after their parents were killed. Now the owner of the ranch cannot decide so the agreement is that they both stay and work the ranch if someone leaves during the month the other one gets to buy it. If both are still there then they will draw straws. Sounds good, but the two boys are city boys and need to learn about ranching. Adele and her two girls now a lot about ranching. You find out about Adele’s ex-husband and what a piece of work he is, and you find out about Remington and how he does not know anything but ranching and nothing about raising boys. This story works and what really makes it work is the youngest daughter Jett she is a hoot, a spit fire, and her character stays the same throughout the book which makes it work. All of the characters are good but hers makes this book more than just a normal story she actually gives it a little zing. Overall this is a very good book. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

WICKED COWBOY CHARM (LUCKY PENNY RANCH #4)

WICKED COWBOY CHARM                          CAROLYN BROWN

Josie Dawson is new in town, but it doesn't take a local to know that Deke Sullivan is trouble--in a smokin' hot package. He's sweet, sexy, and has charmed just about every woman in Dry Creek, Texas. Well, Josie won't be next. She'll keep her distance, even if he is great with babies and makes a mean cup of homemade hot chocolate.
Deke Sullivan really is a one-woman type of guy. He just had to do a lot of looking to find that one woman. Now he thinks he's found her and he won't let a strong, sassy gal like Josie slip away. Just when he's wondering how to convince her he only has eyes for her, they get stranded in a tiny cabin during a major blizzard. If Deke can melt her heart before they dig out of the snow, he'll be the luckiest cowboy in Texas . . .

PAT'S REVIEW;

Deke Sullivan owns the ranch next to the Lucky Penney and has ran his ranch by himself. Now he has seen Josie Dawson in the feed store and is totally attracted to her. Their attraction comes along to a time that they both spend in Wyoming wanting to bid on the same bulls. They end up getting snowed in for a week and though nothing happens they actually get to know each other because of the storm, and having to work the ranch for the older man. It is on their way back that they heat up as well as the situations they come across in the drive. When they finally make it back as much as they want to be together Deke now must put down his reputation and prove to Josie he is ready to settle down. This is a great book to go along in the series and really focuses on the two of them, and exploits they come across in their travels. The characters are very good especially the man who owns the ranch they end up at and his lady friend and you are there feeling his loneliness but grateful that these two have been stuck with him for the time being. This is a very good story with more than a few touching moments that make this book stand out. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

TAKE ME BACK (PARADISE, IDAHO, #3)

TAKE ME BACK                                              ROSALIND JAMES

Hallie Cavanaugh’s late father just left her millions of reasons to stay away from Jim Lawson, deputy sheriff of Paradise, Idaho, and the man who broke her heart fourteen years ago. Hallie has worked hard for independence, but she can’t dismiss a massive inheritance, even if she has to follow her father’s manipulative terms to get it. How hard can it be to spend six months back in Paradise—and not sleep with her old flame?

Former Army Ranger Jim just wants to do his job, raise his daughter…and resist the gorgeous, redheaded reminder of his bad-boy past. Their one unforgettably hot night together had major consequences, and now there’s a fortune and a family legacy at stake. But when Hallie is threatened amid a storm of uncovered secrets and conflicted loyalties, protecting her becomes more than a duty: it’s a deeply personal fight Jim’s heart won’t let him lose.

PAT'S REVIEW;

Hallie Cavanaugh has come back into town for her father’s funeral, and after the reading of the will she has decided to stay. Jim Lawson who was forced to leave town when he was eighteen is now sheriff and they have a past together that neither really wants to explore right away. Henry, Hallie’s father did not die of natural cases and you know that as the reader. What you don’t know is the person who killed him or why. Also why do they want Hallie to leave? Yes there are a lot of reasons but they don’t add up. The more you find out you actually end up disliking her father and understand why she never came home after she went away to college. Though this is a story about Hallie and Jim it is really about her father and the wake of destruction that he left behind. Part mystery, part love story for me the epilogue was the best part. Overall a very good story with a good who done it. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars.Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

He strikes up a friendship that soon simmers into something passionate and real. But when Kayla’s past catches up with her, Luke knows he has to find a way to keep her safe…or risk losing her forever.

PAT'S REVIEW;

Kayla moves away from her abusive boyfriend with her son and goes to a little town in Idaho that she used to visit as a young girl. Luke Jackson is Kayla’s neighbor and sees that she needs help. It is then that she recognizes a boy from her past that is now a man. He does not remember her until later in the story. She fights wanting to be attracted to him because of her last boyfriend. Plus she is still thinking about her husband the father of her son who died a few years ago. Wanting to make a better life for her son and for herself she is allowing everything to go at a slow pace. She still needs to be on the lookout for her ex. A good story of a women taking back her life and showing her son that what her ex was doing was not the way to treat a women. The author also provides information at the end of the book for battered women which I thought was good as well. Overall a good book. With very good characters and a nice twist at the end. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

THRUST (THRUST#1)

THRUST                                                           SYBIL BARTEL

I know the game. I know the angle. I know how to make you beg.

My hands on your body, my mouth hovering over yours—I’ll tell you everything you want to hear. Ten inches of real estate never felt so good.

But don’t take my word for it. My client list is long and my motto is short—one single thrust and you’re mine. I’m not good at what I do, I’m fantastic. But satisfaction doesn’t come cheap. So open your wallet and prepare to forget your name. I’m about to ruin you for any other man.

One single thrust and you’re mine.

PAT'S REVIEW;

Alex Vega is a male escort and gets paid good money to take care of his female clients. This book opens with him doing just that and ending the contract of one as well. Olivia is working at wanting to raise money for training service dogs to help with veterans with PTSD. When Alex shows up at her fund raiser with one of his clients another one of his is there also and the two of them begin to fight. Thinking it funny and seeing Olivia he does everything in his arrogance to annoy her, he thinks he is flirting but to her he is being a jerk. Once everything settles down and of his clients leaves whiles the other stays he is still wanting Olivia. Turns out that the women who stayed was the one who was sponsoring the affair so when she decided to leave she also took all of the bids, so nothing sold. He still wanting her thought it was endearing of her getting upset and throwing bottles at him. This is where the sex gets hotter than it was when the book opened up. As much as she wants to say no to him, she has never been kissed liked that or later satisfied and now she is pissed at her body. His one saving point is he does buy the paintings when he realizes what he did. The second half of the book it becomes you as the reader finding out more about the two of them and seeing if they can even have something together. He is becoming more attached to her and is ready to leave his business and make her his one. Their stories are what really make this book. A lot of sex but also a story about two people trying to find their way. A good book. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

PAT'S REVIEW;

Skye Martinez works at the Briscoe ranch along with her mother and she is not one to just sit back and let things go by. So when she gets the opportunity to help out a young couple elope with a cowboy she met in the barn she goes for it. Gentry Wells is a Country music star who needs to have a hit record but can’t seem to write a song. Now after a night of riding horses with Skye words are starting to come to him. Meeting in the barn the next night they find the couple who is supposed to be getting and Gentry instead takes them and Skye to Nashville so they can elope. Back at the Briscoe ranch it has been three weeks since her one night with Gentry and she is still trying to figure out why weird guys are attracted to her. Skye is confused about her feelings and her mother is not helping the situation at all. The two of them must work it out. The characters are good and other than a few places the story drags a little over all it was good. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave 4 stars. Follow us atwww.1rad-readerreviews.com

ONE MORE TASTE (ONE & ONLY TEXAS, #2)

ONE MORE TASTE                                         MELISSA CUTLER

           Ambitious and talented, chef Emily Ford has the chops to make it in the cutthroat culinary world—which is why she refuses to accept her demotion at the hands of Knox Briscoe, the new CEO of Briscoe Ranch Resort. He has grand plans that include bringing in a celebrity chef to helm an exciting new restaurant at the resort, but Emily has plans of her own—to do whatever it takes to change his mind…

Knox Briscoe made his millions in the high-risk game of buying and flipping businesses. Cut out of the Briscoe fortune by an old feud that left his family in ruins, Knox grew up dreaming of revenge. Out-maneuvering his uncle for control of the resort is merely the first step in his plan—a plan that doesn’t include the brazen and beautiful Emily Ford. Drawn into her passion, Knox’s world is turned on its axis, and it isn’t long before he’s faced with the biggest risk of all—with his career, with his heart…and with the woman who has captivated him, body and soul.

PAT'S REVIEW;

Knox Briscoe is finally getting the chance at the revenge that he has felt he and his father has deserved. His whole life all he remembers growing up is his father telling him how he was kicked off the families land and never went back. Revenge is all Knox has worked for buying and flipping property has all led to moment the Briscoe Resort is need of help and they have come to him. Thinking that he will save them with a plan to pull them out of bad loans and keep the resort still in the family. What Knox was expecting was a feisty chief who is not only talented cooking, but also a fighter and she will not be pushed aside by some rich guy because he thinks she should have gone to culinary school, and trained under some famous chief while cooking his recipes instead of her own. He finds himself not only knocked out by her cooking but also by her beauty and her zest for life. Emily Ford’s character for me really makes this book. Her story is really what makes this a story. You are drawn to find out more about her and the more you find you are surprised. This story works but I enjoyed the banter between Emily and Knox. How she was able to make him get out of his comfort zone and because of her he was able to grow. At the same time you are shown her past and she must deal with her past in order to move forwarded and when you get to the end of the book it works. A very good story with very characters. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

HOME AT LAST(SANCTUARY ISLAND #6)

HOME AT LAST                                               LILY EVERETT

       Marcus Beckett left Sanctuary Island after his mother's funeral, and he hasn't been back since. Until now. Needing a change from the high-risk, high-stakes life of a bodyguard, Marcus makes a solitary life for himself running the neighborhood bar in his hometown. His only mistake? Seducing and then dumping the town's sweetheart, Quinn Harper. Marcus knows he did the right thing—a good girl like Quinn has no business with a broken man like him. But now no one will come to his bar, and he's watching his last chance at a peaceful life go up in smoke. So when Quinn proposes a fake four-week courtship, he can't refuse...even though he knows it's a bad idea.

It's a romantic charade that will buy Quinn time to distract her mother and father from their own martial problems—and will help Marcus welcome back some paying customers besides. But what begins as an engagement of convenience slowly transforms into a deeper connection, one that heals both of their hearts...and ignites the simmering passion between them. Could it be that pretending to be together is just what Quinn and Marcus needed to give their real love a second chance?

PAT'S REVIEW;

Quinn Harper is in love with Marcus Beckett, she has been in love with him since she was a little girl chasing him around Sanctuary Island. To her their ten year age difference is not a problem. He left after his mother’s funeral after he finished college and that day she found out that he was enlisting. Now ten years later he is back and he did start things up with Quinn only to end them just as quickly, which has not made him a likable person on the island. Especially now that he has opened a bar and only two people come in. Quinn finds out that her parents are wanting to sell the family home, and also it looks like her mom and dad may be separating this all because of some new guru that her mother has decided to follow. Quinn’s plan is for her and Marcus to start dating again and by doing so will keep her parents around town longer so they won’t sell the house while she figures out how to fix everything. At the same time it will help his business because he won’t be on the outs with the town people for dumping her. Sounds good and he agrees. What happens next is Marcus finding out that he needs to talk about his past and one of those people is Quinn and the more he shares the more she falls for him and he for her. There are more layers to this story and her parents and for Marcus as well. This turns out to be a very good book, with good characters. I got this book from netgalley.com. I gave it 4 stars.
