CHRISTI SNOW HERE FRIDAY AT 7PM PST AUTHOR OF: "RIGHT BY YOUR SIDE" COVER REVEAL TO ANOTHER NEW BOOK

Welcome
Christi Snow
Author of:

The first book in the Martin Ranch series, Right By Your Side, releases today.

This series will follow the same style that my When the Mission Ends series had.

Lots of romance, intrigue, and suspense built around a core family of siblings...the Martins.

The first book features Scott Martin, the second oldest of the four boys.
The paramedic.
The nurturer.
But now, he has someone new to take care of...

Best Female Country Artist. Sold out world-wide tour. Record-setting album sales. It’s been a stellar year for Skye Taylor and it’s left her exhausted. All she wants to do is go home to Oklahoma, curl up in her little house, and veg out in pj’s with a pile of junk food. But when her tour bus crashes in the middle of West Texas, her priorities suddenly shift. Now she’s sitting bedside hoping her best friend and bodyguard, KC, survives.

For Scott Martin, he simply wants this horrible year to end. After the murder of his brother, his family is falling apart. With one crisis after another pulling him back to the family ranch, he’s put way too many late night miles on his truck between his family home and Lubbock, where he works as a paramedic. When he comes upon the wrecked tour bus, he has no idea this is one emergency which will change his life forever.

Skye and Scott quickly form a friendship which hints at possibilities of more. But as these two dodge paparazzi, over-zealous label executives, and stalker fans, they soon discover that everything is easier when you have someone you trust RIGHT BY YOUR SIDE. And that becomes even more important when they discover the bus wreck wasn’t an accident…

Rad-Reader:  This storyline had so many twist and turns how did you ever come up with it?

Christi:  Oh, wow. That’s a tough question. When I sit down to write my books and plot them out, I know how the book will start, and who the characters are (my books are EXTREMELY character driven), and where I want them to eventually go, but no idea how I’m going to get them there (usually). I take two to three months to write a book and throughout that process, I re-read the book from start to finish 20-50 times. Each time I do that, more twists and turns come to me and how to deepen the story. It’s a slow process, but the twists and turns evolve as I go through it.

Rad-Reader:  Skye was so devoted to KC almost to obsession.  Why was that?

Christi:  Skye lost so much when she was so young (her entire family died when she was only 6 years old and a second family by the time she was 18). KC was the only constant she had to hang onto...but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. When she was 18, he joined the military and broke her heart when he came out as gay. One of those was heartbreaking. The combination of the two was shattering to her.

But the fact remains, she loves him with all that is in her. It’s just not a romantic love...honestly, between the two of them, it’s deeper and more abiding than that.

Rad-Reader:  Why was KC so willing to give up so much for Skye?

Christi:  For the same reasons as Skye. Like her, his backstory was tragic. That will come out more in his book with Josh. But she stood up for him and stood by him when he was a scrawny little kid from the wrong side of the tracks when no one else had EVER done that for him. She saw him and loved him anyway.

Their friendship is so strong and so deep. I love them.

Rad-Reader:  What allowed KC to betray Skye and degrade himself when it came to Jesse?

Christi:  Pure loneliness. KC is this huge tough guy, but he desperately wants to make that physical connection with another guy. Skye may not do it for him romantically, but he desperately wants what they have mentally with another guy. He wants that connection.

And yeah, he knew he would never find that with Jesse, but everyone needs a physical connection sometimes too. KC had been denying that for himself because Skye’s music label demanded it. Regardless of what he thought of Jesse on a personal level, he knew he could trust Jesse to keep his mouth shut. For guys, they can have the sex without the mental attachment. For these two, that’s what that was. And Skye was never supposed to know. Neither of them wanted that.

Rad-Reader:  Scott was pushing himself as were his brothers.  Why did he feel so guilty moving from the ranch?

Christi:  Scott and Andrew are the caretakers. They have been since their mother died when they were teenagers. But after Thomas’s death, Scott hit a wall and couldn’t do it anymore, so he started spending less time at the ranch. What that did was leave all the responsibility with Andrew. Scott knows that wasn’t the right thing to do and his sense of responsibility means one thing...guilt.

Also he feels like he should have seen more of what was happening with Thomas...somehow he should have been able to stop that entire event from happening. There’s guilt there about that, too, but ALL the Martin men feel that. Thomas died because of his anger at his father, and none of them recognized the depths of that until it was too late.

Rad-Reader:  Andrew was a US Marshall by trade.  But did he take a leave of absence or did he resign do to his brother’s death, his father’s illness, and Matthew’s behavior?

Christi:  He’s a Texas Ranger, which is a little bit different. It’s a state level FBI type office. As such there are times when he’s working a case and gone 24-7. Other times when he’s just in the office doing paperwork and such. During Right By Your Side, it was a light period in his caseload.

Rad-Reader:  Matthew was lashing out but it seemed that once Skye arrived at the ranch to stay she brought him some sort of peace.  Or did I read too much into that?

Christi:  His peace didn’t come from Skye. He did do better once he had the abused horse (which just happened to coincide with Skye’s arrival) and he had something else to focus on besides his pain. He and Thomas were close, so he’s the one who has taken Thomas’s death the hardest. He’s also the youngest and at times, shows his immaturity in how he handles stress.

But really in this book, his transformation was about the horse. Matthew connects with animals and by focusing on the abused horse’s pains and needs, it took his focus off his own pain.

Rad-Reader:  We never seemed to get a clear cut answer to what exactly was causing his father’s illness can you explain it to us now?

Christi:  No, you’re going to have to be patient on this one. Michael’s medical issues are going to play out through these first three books. There’s definitely more going on there than what we’ve seen so far.

Rad-Reader:  Andrew seemed to be such a lonely soul.  Did he lose the love of his life or is there one out there but with all that is happening he can’t do anything at this time?

Christi:  Andrew is extremely lonely and to be honest, his is the final book so I haven’t delved too much into his psyche yet. It’s coming, I promise.

Rad-Reader:  I could not believe the direction this book had taken.  I kept trying to figure out who done it.  Just when I thought I did you would change up on the focal point.  How hard was that to do?

Christi:  I am the reader who rarely can figure out who did it. I will tell you, it’s so much easier to write all those twists when you know who did it. This is a book that I knew before I even started writing it, who was the “bad guy”. I’ll be honest...that’s a rare thing for me as a writer. Usually I don’t know for sure until ½-2/3 of the way through writing it.

I love it when people tell me they couldn’t figure it out. There’s nothing better than knowing all those clues are there, but the reader won’t see them until they read the book for the second time...and then they see them all and wonder how they missed it. Best. Thing. Ever!

Rad-Reader:  I love how Scott’s family wanted only the best for him and KC only the best for her also.  So, they all encouraged taking a risk with their hearts.  Do you think it was more of a risk for Skye or Scott and Why?

Christi:  In this story, I think the biggest risk is for Scott. He has such strong ties with his family. He can’t leave them with where they are right now. And Skye has this whole career and home built that’s not in Lubbock, TX...This place he can’t leave. Loving her meant that Scott was pretty much handing his heart over to her knowing that she’d break it when she left.

Rad-Reader:  If your book was made into a movie who would you want to play…?

Skye:  Jana Kramer

Scott:  Taylor Kinney

KC:  Chris Hemsworth

Andrew:  Michael Trucco

Matt:  Scott Eastwood

Mr. Martin:  Sam Elliott

Christi:  Whoa, I really, really love your choices. OMG, so good especially Scott Eastwood for Matthew. And you nailed Skye and Scott. The only one you missed on how I see them in my head is KC...he’s Italian...dark, big, and broody. Although I’ll take Chris Hemsworth...yum!

Because I write and read so much, I rarely watch movies or TV so I’m AWFUL at this game. I do have huge inspiration boards on my walls of my office with photos of my characters. I’ll add in those (original) photos here. (Note: they’ve changed now that I have covers for all the books. Now the board has photos of all the real models that are on the covers.)

Skye:
Scott:
KC:
Andrew:
Matt:

Mr. Martin:  Mr. Martin: I didn’t have a photo for him, but I love your idea of Sam Elliot...perfect for him!

Rad-Reader:  What song out now reminds you of your book?
(I will provide a video if there is one.)

Christi:  Because of Skye’s career, music played heavily into this book. She’s a country singer, so Cassadee Pope, Sara Evans, and Taylor Swift’s early album are how I envision her musical style.

But the songs that spoke to me while writing were almost entirely from Superchick...
*Breathe (this is the song I played on repeat for the scenes with KC in the hospital...even listening to it now takes me back to that pain from Skye at the thought of losing him)

*5 Minutes at a Time

*Beauty from Pain

*This is the Time

and then Cassadee Pope’s
*One Song Away

Rad-Reader:  What is your next project?

Christi:  Oh wow...I’m always working on half a dozen projects at a time. Right now, I’m actively writing on 5 different series and have a LOT of balls in the air.

My next release coming out next month is a male/male holiday romance story called Found at the Library. It’s about two men who have a passion for books, but just show it in VERY different ways and that is a source of conflict. I honestly feel it’s the best book I’ve ever written and cannot wait to get it into readers’ hands.

For the Martin Ranch series, I’m writing a side book that doesn’t truly fall within the series because it doesn’t feature a Martin or take place at the ranch, but it is in the same world. Cruel Serendipity is Josh and KC’s love story and it holds some surprises because I’m finding Josh is more scarred than KC. Gah...they are so awesome together. They just don’t realize it yet. Although this is a male/male romance, I introduced both these characters in RBYS and the readers seem anxious to read the continuation of their story.

Within the Martins, the next book will be Matthew’s...Finding You in the Crazy. There will be some surprising twists to the Martin story in this one and I’m anxious to get working on it.

Rad-Reader:  What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Christi:  Chocolate and Peanut butter

Rad-Reader:  If you could tell your younger self 1 thing what would it be?

Christi:  Don’t worry so much about what other people think of you.

Rad-Reader:  What was the first thing you did when you wrote the last word to your very first book you ever wrote to get it published?

Christi:  I started inhaling books on how to edit and polish. I’d never taken a creative course in my life, so writing wasn’t something that came naturally to me. But I’m a huge reader, so I read everything I could get my hands on to teach myself what I could. And then listened to anything and everything from those who knew the business and tried to take their teachings to heart. I’ve been very lucky and have managed to surround myself with some incredibly talented people. I have an amazing team who keep me on track and on task.

As an avid reader her entire life, Christi Snow always dreamed of writing books that brought to others the kind of joy she felt when she read. But...she never did anything about it besides jot down a few ideas and sparse scenes.
When she turned 41, she decided it was time to go after her dream and started writing. Within four months, she'd written over 150,000 words and hasn't stopped since.
She's found her calling by writing about sexy, alpha heroes and smart, tough heroines falling in love and finding their passion. An author of nine novels, she's truly living the dream and loving every minute of it. Her days in her West Texas home are spent reading, writing, and taking care of her husband, two kids, and two cats.
Her tagline is... Passion and adventure on the road to Happily Ever After. She's loving this adventure!
