This was a feel-good book when you come away at the end. Brody Buchannan is who really steals and makes this book so endearing to you throughout.
His love of family, respect for women, but most of all the love that you see grow right before your eyes for the woman who had said he was to be basically a one and done guy. Yet, that was not the case at all. Because she like he could not get him out of her mind. Even with the thought of her ex and her possibly getting back together and making it work.
However, she really didn’t know if she really felt the same way about him as she did before he left almost 18 months ago. But now while she is at her female exam with the woman that had delivered her and she is also her godmother/stand in grandmother figure she finds out she is 6 months pregnant. Knowing that Jones her ex is still in Africa and that she had run off with one of the sexiest men at her brother Kai’s wedding she ventured to guess that Rose knew it would be his. She would be right.
She went home in a fog with a semi-happy yet with a freak-out vibe happening. With six weeks, into her pregnancy, she was having a hard time remembering Brody’s last name while freaking out. Not to mention since it was to be a one and done the did not exchange numbers so now to go about trying to get his number without causing a big thing. When all of a sudden her phone rings thinking it was going to be her mom or her best friend and it was a guy she was not prepared and was caught blank.
She asked who it was and you guessed it, it was Brody. He happened to be in Washington on an interview and wanted to make contact with her. Not to worry he wasn’t stalking her he said he wasn’t stalking her Kai her brother gave him her number. She said sure they could meet but she had a rough day and he could come over to her house if would like. He right away said yes.
When he got there she right away felt that instant spark again that she felt at the wedding. She wanted to jump his bones right there in the entryway. But she knew she had to tell him about the baby. So, they did the small talk and then she blurted it out. He was in shock for about a few minutes and then he was I am right there with you. Whatever you need and I want to be hands on. I am willing to move here, in fact, I had planned on it anyway and that is what I wanted to talk to you about.
She said she really wasn’t ready for them to make a commitment to each other because she had just committed herself to Jones and since she had today just found out she had not had the chance to talk to Jones about any of it yet. He was not due to call for a couple of days. He was due home in a couple of weeks. If he would accept the baby as his own we would be a couple and you would be a weekend daddy then. She said but her conviction wasn’t there.
Wow! Her life was about to change. This is a story that takes you on a wild ride of a pregnant young woman’s journey to tell the baby daddy the news. And then to tell the ex that wanted back in as her present again that had made plans verbally to come home from Africa. To be a couple and marry. Which I know conflict is always needed in a book I just hate when a woman always gives her power to a man to make a decision about her future. Especially, when the handwriting was on the wall already.
I guess that is more something to discuss at a book club, right? Jones had made a decision when he hung up on her and yet he wanted to play a victim was not a good guy at that point and she is pregnant or naive fell for it. Just me. Now, these two have to learn about each other in order to create a family for this child and what that family may look like. I give this: 4 stars. Provided by the author. Follow us at
