HIDDEN AWAY

HIDDEN AWAY                                          JENNIE MARTS

Secrets have a way of revealing themselves….

Right after a fire breaks out in her diner, a phone call changes Cherry Hill’s life. The tragic death of her cousin leaves Cherry sole guardian of her eight-year-old nephew. But the upper crust side of the Hill family deems her unfit and is determined to take Sam away from her. The only one on her side is the sexy sheriff, Taylor Johnson, the man who broke her heart nine years ago when he left town.

Taylor Johnson has sworn to protect the citizens of Broken Falls, but should that extend to a fake engagement to the woman who captured his heart so long ago? It doesn’t take long for his pretend feelings to turn real for both Cherry and her adorable nephew, Sam.

But Cherry’s been hiding a secret from Taylor that could rip this new family apart…

HUBBY'S REVIEW:
Cherry Hill has had a rough life but she is not complaining to anyone. So as she is dealing with a fire at her restaurant that she took over after her grandparents passed away. She gets a phone call saying that her cousin was in a car accident with her husband and child and she needed to rush to the hospital. On the way her car breaks down and the one person she really did not want to see shows up is Sheriff Taylor Johnson. The same man who broke her heart nine years ago when he left town and joined the service. He takes her to the hospital, but he still can’t believe she is driving the same VW bug that she had when they were in school. When they arrive at the hospital she is attacked by her so called family. They are still upset that the grandparents left the dinner to her, but now she finds out that her cousin has passed away and she has been made guardian over Sam, her nephew. Her Aunt, and cousin talk down to her and belittle her to the point that Taylor jumps in and says to them that they are engaged. This for the time being puts a stop to all of the talk for that day, and she goes to Sam. She then tells Taylor thanks and he also tells her to come out to his dad’s place since her apartment was burnt in the fire as well. Sam and her move in and there are some problems at first but it goes along okay and everyone for the most part is good with them being together except for her side of the family. She also has a secret that she needs to tell Taylor, but she does not know if it will help or hurt, but she does know that feelings are going to go back to when they were in school and back to that last night together before he left. When he finds out he responds like she thought he would telling him that she had to make decisions because he was gone and she did leave him a message on his phone but he never called her and she knew he did not want to be in the town any more. She had to do what she thought was best. This was a very strong book and the characters were all good in the story even the family ones that I did like. A good book, five stars. I got this book from netgalley.  I give this 5 stars.
