Rad-Reader:  How did you come up with this story?

Christine:   My editor and I discussed me writing a New Adult series about a group of hot British guys living in London, and it wasn’t long before Harry, Lucas and their friend Will came alive in my mind! I grew up in the UK, so it was a lot of fun for me to go back to my roots, as my last few books have been set in the US.

Rad-Reader:  Why Bad Boys and football?  ; )

Christine:  I love writing about bad boys 😊 Also, British Bad Boys is such an awesome series title! Lucas, the hero of Once Upon a Player, is the identical twin brother of Harry, from Cinderella and the Geek. So I already knew Lucas was a professional footballer, at the top of his game, before I even started thinking about his book.

The only problem is, I know next to nothing about football! Luckily, my critique partner and amazing friend, Amanda Ashby, knew absolutely everything about the game. I lost count of the number of times I asked her advice on something (and we’re still friends!!!)

Rad-Reader:  Violet was burned by her past relationships with a footballer and a so-called best friend.  How or what happened?

Christine:    Violet had been dating her ex for over a year when she caught him and her best friend snogging at a party, in front of all their friends. She never found out how long they’d been seeing each other behind her back, and this not only devastated her, it really shook her confidence. There is *maybe* an ulterior motive as to why her ex-cheated… which is no excuse, and I agree with Violet that he’s an entitled prat 😊

Rad-Reader:  Can you tell us some backstory about Lucas and Violet that the blurb/synopsis doesn’t tell us?

Christine:   Lucas has been in the limelight since he first turned pro when he was just 17. So he’s used to the celebrity lifestyle but just lately he’s been feeling that something is missing.

Violet lives with her mum, stepdad, and little brother and although she has a great relationship with her parents, she sometimes feels like the odd one out.

Rad-Reader:  Why does Katie have such a say about her relationship or at least thinks she does?

Christine:  Violet and Katie were best friends when they were little, right up until they went to different high schools. They reconnected a couple of years ago and after Violet broke up with her ex, Katie was her only friend who stuck by her. So, they have a very special friendship, and Katie doesn’t want Violet getting hurt by Lucas, the way she was by her ex.

Rad-Reader:  How worried is Lucas about not making it back onto the field?  Does Violet want a chance at a real relationship with Lucas or is he just a test run?

Christine:  Lucas is very worried that his injury might be career-threatening, as it’s not only been a part of his life for so long, but he loves the game.

Violet was so sure she wouldn’t get involved with him, even though she had a teenage crush on him a few years ago, but he’s so different to what she imagined. When they get together she tells herself it’s just a summer fling, even though deep down she wants it to be so much more.

Rad-Reader:  What about Lucas?  Does he want a relationship with Violet or to prove he can get the girl that didn’t want him?

Christine:   Lucas has never had a problem finding a date, so although initially he’s intrigued that Violet turns him down, that isn’t the reason why he can’t get her out of his head. The fact she isn’t interested in his celebrity lifestyle is one of the reasons he enjoys hanging out with her.

Rad-Reader:  Why are they both playing it down so much, the part about liking each other?  Is it fear of being hurt?  Or fear of being left behind?

Christine:  Lucas has never been in a serious relationship before so he’s not sure how to handle things! And Violet’s been hurt before, so she’s guarding her heart.

Rad-Reader:  For Lucas is it just the fact he’s never been in a relationship before and now he is thinking about her almost as much as he is football?

Christine:  Yes, he’s never dated a girl that he can’t get out of his mind before, so this is all new to him!

Rad-Reader:  Harry is really so different than Lucas.  How did he even meet Alice anyway?

Christine:   Harry and Lucas are so different, but they are such great mates. Harry met Alice when she was working for him before she went onto university, and their story is the first British Bad Boys book, CINDERELLA, AND THE GEEK.

Rad-Reader:  Now Mac, what is her story?  What’s the story with her and Will?  What happened to their friendship over the past three years?

Christine:   I’ve just finished editing Will and Mac’s book, which should be out by the end of this year when all will be revealed! I had a lot of fun with these two and I hope readers enjoy them as much as I did!
Rad-Reader:  Something told me you were going to say that.  Dang, it!

Rad-Reader:  Lucas seems to see himself as the sibling with the least amount of brains.  Is that the press talking in his ear or his family over the years?

Christine:   It’s a combination of the press, and how he sees himself, especially after an incident that happened a few years ago that involved Harry’s ex.

Rad-Reader:  How did Harry almost lose Alice and what did he do to get her back?

Christine:  Harry behaved like a wanker and had to grovel to get Alice back!

Rad-Reader:  Is Lucas’s Dad dating his mom’s old best friend, Margo?

Christine:  Violet thinks they are, but she does sometimes jump to conclusions!

Rad-Reader:  If your book was made into a movie who would you want to play…?

Violet:  Sarah Hyland

Lucas:  David Beckham (younger)

Mac:  Violett Beane

Will:  Grant Gustin

Harry:  Rick Cosnett (younger)

Alice:  Emily Bett Rickards

Yolanda:  Behati Prinsloo

Christine:  I love these choices! It’s funny, but I never base my characters on a particular celebrity or actor (although in the past several of my heroes were inspired by Henry Cavill!) In fact, Henry could play Will!

Harry:  As above

Alice:  Chloe Grace Moretz

Rad-Reader:  What song or songs best describes your couple or book as a whole?

“Unlove You – Jennifer Nettles”
Violet had been betrayed by a footballer and by a so-called best friend and that made her shut down from life.  Her good deed for her mom puts her life in the path of footballer Lucas Carter an All-Pro.  She turns down all his advances.  For fear when she hears fully engaged she would burn out.

“You Say – Lauren Daigle”
After three weeks of helping Lucas and learning meeting and seeing the true Lucas and note the sound bite one, she believes he is genuine.

“Look at Me – Carrie Underwood”
She knew she agreed to “No Strings” but she knew it would kill her at the end because she is attached to Lucas already.

“Another Try – Chris Stapleton”
Made some assumptions and thought he talked them over with Violet.  When it came to a head what he did was insult her and hurt her feelings.

"Wait For You - Stone Broken"
When Lucas was getting ready to move on to the next phase of his career he knew he was missing the most important element.  Yet, if his twin was right he needed to meet Violet halfway.

“Make Him Wait – Abby Anderson”
She knew that she didn’t want to get involved with Lucas another footballer after her ex-hurt her so badly.  The heart wants what it wants.  When he ordered her to call after their spat before sending her home.  No one orders her so she was going to make him wait.  That’s when others made her realize she could lose him for her pride.

Christine:  Begin Again – Taylor Swift”
This is Violet’s song 😊

Rad-Reader:  What was your last family vacation and what did you like most?

Christine:   We went to the Gold Coast, and although the weather wasn’t great (surprisingly!) it was fabulous just hanging out with the family and relaxing!

Rad-Reader:  What genre do you like to read most?

Christine:   Although I’ve been on a contemporary romance kick for the last few years, my first love is paranormal.

Rad-Reader:  Are there any other writers in your family?

Christine:  Not published, but my youngest daughter and son both have a flair for writing so I wouldn’t be surprised if something comes of that in the future!

Rad-Reader:  What is your next project and when is it coming out?

Christine:   My next book is the third British Bad Boys, which is Will and Mac’s story. We don’t yet have a title for this one, but we’re working on it! It’s due out by the end of the year.
