To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?
In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.
MY REVIEW:
This review is done by my 12 yr. old daughter for our blog.
In the second book in the breakout hit The Mortal Instruments Clay’s life doesn’t get any easier. For one thing her best friend, Simon, is falling in love with her. Her bad boy Shadow-hunter crush might be her brother Gross! Oh did I mention her mom is in a comma and that her dad is summoning an army of demons to take over the World. Other than that just an average day.
This can be hard for a normal teenage girl but Clary Fray isn’t a normal teenage girl. She is a kick-butt, feisty, smart Shadow-hunter whose dad is Valentine, the baddest bad guy known to demons and Shadow-hunters and kind. Will everything work out for Clary Fray or will it spiral out of control. Read the City of Ashes to find out.
