ONCE UPON A COWBOY

ONCE UPON A COWBOY                       MAGGIE McGINNIS

Yoga instructor Jessalyn Alcott radiates peace, calm, and serenity—on the outside. Inside, she still feels like the broken, desperate girl from the trailer park. She’s got dark secrets she can’t share, which is why she never lets her relationships go beyond the third date. But when she travels to the Whisper Creek dude ranch for a friend’s wedding, Jess is enchanted by a cowboy whose deep blue eyes, dimpled smile, and rock-hard body make it tough to remember why she keeps running scared.

Cole Driscoll has struggled to find his place on a family ranch where he’s always played second fiddle. His future might be uncertain, but he’s sure of one thing: He wants Jess by his side. Easier said than done. When it comes to getting close, she’s full of excuses, and he longs to fix the hurt he sees in her eyes. Now that she’s at Whisper Creek, there’s nothing he wants more than to break down the walls around her heart and heal her pain with the power of love.

HUBBY'S REVIEW:
Yoga instructor Jessalynn Alcott, goes with her friends to Whisper Creek for a friend’s wedding. Before she leaves Boston she receives a phone call from the past the past that she has not thought about for many years and was hopping not to have thought about again. Once she gets to the Ranch where the wedding is going to take place she ends up spending time with Cole another brother who is trying to find his place and as the both of them work with the kids that come to the ranch before the wedding they realize they enjoy each other’s company, more than a little. Neither one once to make the next move as each one has something from the past they must deal with first. From her phone call before she left to finding out her grandfather died and now receiving another letter at the ranch she is worried that her past cannot be left alone. She first one night tells her two friends what happened and though they at first are upset for her not telling them years ago they are there for her to help her. After a few days she reveals to Cole everything and he does not know how to take everything she told him. When he goes back to talk to her she is gone, gone to take care of the past and to put it behind her finally. When she is at the last part she is surprised but happy that Cole showed up and helped confront the two people that she needed to put behind her the most her mother and aunt. This is a very powerful story of her reclaiming her power over her life. A very good book. I got this book from netgalley.  I give this 5 stars.
