Jude Braddock. Hockey god. That's how everyone sees him now. But when they were teenagers, Zoey knew him as the kid who didn't have enough nerve to make a move on their one and only disastrous date. Seems he doesn't have that problem anymore, though. According to the rumors, he's with a different woman every night. After a rough divorce, the last thing Zoey needs is more heartbreak. But Jude's cocky, playful attitude is mighty hard to resist.

Jude knows he isn't built for long-term relationships. But he's getting sick of women pounding on his door in the middle of the night looking for a rematch. When Zoey comes back into his life, it's like fate has given him a second chance. He'll do anything to make her happy again. Is this what love looks like? He has no idea. All he knows for sure is that this time, he's playing for keeps.

PAT'S REVIEW

This was a very good book about two childhood friends, who grew up together both skating one hockey and the other figure skating. When as teens Jude Braddock leaves for hockey school and Zoey Quinlin leaves for Nationals and a shot at the Olympics. Now years later only Jude’s dream has come true playing hockey and by some people standards, he is at the top of his game. For Zoey, her dreams ended with allegations of bribes, cheating, and not wanting to show her face in public. Now working for an art dealer who lets her paint in the back room she has settled into a quiet non-life. That is until one day when she is chased down by the one guy who she thought for sure would not remember her Jude. He follows her to the art studio and then later shows up at her apartment asking questions but only getting the response Google me and then talk to me. He shows back up a few days later saying he did not know about everything that happened to her and this is the beginning of them working towards first a friendship again. Both have a past that they must work through and his at times with his mother, and his divorce is holding him back from her more so than the other way around, and it is not until he tells her about his mother that he begins to heal and they begin to really become a couple. They both have fears that they are working through but they want to be together. His hockey playing is better when she is around and her painting is much better when he is with her. Now they must each deal with their demons from their past in order to have a future. There is also a twist close to the end that I did not see coming that really adds to this story. A very good book with good characters. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com (less)
