Winning the Boss's Heart by Hayson Manning

Mason Christian has twelve weeks to flip something old into something new for his Japanese client, and then he's getting the hell out of Footsteps Bay, New Zealand. Not even his temporary cook and secretary—the feisty, luscious Billie McLeod—will deter him. There's no denying she makes him feel alive. More alive than he's felt in three years...

Billie has one dream: save enough money to go to college. That's why she's agreed to work for hard ass, all-business-no-pleasure Mason Christian—a man who has every intention of destroying through "modernization" the town's most cherished historical home. But before she can say see ya, she realizes she's signed the dotted line and is contractually bound for eighty-four days. Working with male perfection every day is awesome with a capital A—as long as they can stick to a hands-off policy that gets harder every day...

MY REVIEW:

I so enjoyed this story.  It really had some funny moments and some poignant ones also. Living in the past is never a good thing.  Taking that out on others can be worse.
While in the case for Billie and Mason.  Mason is a man in New Zealand that buys a historical home to a small community that they cherish and he wants to modernize it with new and better.  Then, he moves onto the next home he flips.  Never likes to be in one place very long.  As he has his own demons, he trying to outrun all the time.
He needs a P.A. but can’t seem to keep one.  He pays well enough but works them to death with the hours and demands.  Not only do they have to live at the sight and cook.  They still have to do all the jobs he requires as a P.A. and works sometimes twenty-two hours a day.  As he does to himself.  Signing a contract to the devil gives her life for a kidney and plasma.
By the time Billie shows up to the job site. she is now to be called number forty-two and counting for him.  The reason being she knows this because Mason refuses to call her by her name in case she quits too he doesn’t risk getting too close.  So, she fixes that by him every name but his own.  Some are just too funny.
The sexual tension between these two if off the charts from day one.  The banter is sexual foreplay.  The names and full-on arguments make it a fast read.  A must-read!
