CATCH ME, COWBOY (78th Copper Mountain Rodeo #1)

CATCH ME, COWBOY                                   JEANNIE WATT

She will not be his second choice…

When champion bronc rider Ty Harding returns home after four long years on the road, the first thing he does is look up Shelby O’Connor—the woman who begged him to stay. The woman he still loves.

Horse trainer Shelby O’Connor truly believes she’s over Ty—until he shows up on her family ranch and turns her world upside down. Shelby isn’t a big one for second chances, but she’s all about proving that she and Ty are done. But when she discovers that Ty plans to head back out on the rodeo circuit, despite his injuries, she has to come to terms with the fact that maybe she isn’t as over him as she thought she was. And now she has to decide what to do about that.

Will history repeat itself, or will Ty and Shelby get another chance at love?

MY REVIEW:
What an interesting story.  I wanted to read to read it but when I got to the end it left me wanting…not in the way I would want.  It was written well it had all of the elements a romance should have but when I was finished I realized I didn’t connect with the characters emotionally like I should have and for me, that is a biggie.  I felt there should or could have been this steamy emotion but there wasn’t.  It was lacking heat.
Shelby O’Connor and Ty Harding dated for two years after high school.  The thing is Ty had always done the local rodeos and Shelby had just assumed he would grow out of it.  Then when they graduated they would go on to college.   You see she did some roping as part of a team with her friend Wyatt in high school but choked at the end.  So, it was time to grow up.  And since her mom died when she was ten she lived with her grandpa Les working the ranch.
Until she became known as being pretty good as a horse trainer.  When one day ty came to her to say he was going on the road and wanted her to come.  Because they loved each other he thought for sure her answer would be yes.  Totally caught off guard when it was no.
His father had said not to throw his life away like he did to take his chance while he had it.  If she loved him she would be there when he got back.  So, he left.  Soon after he calls Shelby.  She tells him never to call her again.  He made his choice and clearly it wasn’t her.
Four years have gone by.  Shelby heard Ty has retired with two championships under his belt but that he had been badly injured.  There wasn’t a day she hasn’t thought of him but she would never be any man’s second best.  Clear that’s what she would be if he ever came back.  But she was sure he moved on.

When one day he shows up at the ranch to talk with her…  Don’t get me wrong this story has merit and this is a good book just not as much emotion as I feel the author could have pulled out for this storyline.  I give this: 4 stars.  Provided by netgalley.com.  Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.
