CROSSING HEARTS ( CROSS CREEK #2)

CROSSING HEARTS                                       KIMBERLY KINCAID

Hunter Cross has no regrets. Having left his football prospects behind the day he graduated high school, he’s happy to carry out his legacy on his family’s farm in the foothills of the Shenandoah. But when a shoulder injury puts him face-to-face with the high school sweetheart who abandoned town—and him—twelve years ago, Hunter’s simple life gets a lot more complicated.

Emerson Montgomery has secrets. Refusing to divulge why she left her job as a hotshot physical therapist for a pro football team, she struggles to readjust to life in the hometown she left behind. The more time she spends with Hunter, the more Emerson finds herself wanting to trust him with the diagnosis of MS that has turned her world upside down.

But revealing secrets comes with a price. Can Hunter and Emerson rekindle their past love? Or will the realities of the present—and the trust that goes with them—burn that bridge for good?

PAT'S REVIEW

Hunter Cross does not mind that he still lives in the same small town he grew up in and is working on the family farm. He actually enjoys it all, all that is except for the arguing between his two brothers. Thinking that was the worst of his worries was okay with him. That is until he hurt the shoulder he tore up in high school. After seeing the doctor she tells him he needs physical therapy and that she has just hired someone new. That person is the last person he thought he would ever see again, especially in this small town. Emmerson Montgomery has left her job as a physical therapist with a pro football team, and also left the person she was dating. No one knows the reason why she is back in town and she has not even gone home to see her parents. The last person she figured on walking into her room was her high school boyfriend and the guy she left behind but always wondered what his life must be like. She figured he was married and with kids, but know he still has not gotten over the one girl, now a women who has his heart. Her, now looking at each other they must work to get his shoulder back together because harvesting is not too far off. The more they work together they end up spending more, and more time together and she realizes that she actually missed the time when she would go out with him to his families ranch. She even helps them build a web page and helps with treatment for their grandfather, but still won’t see her parents. When it slips out why she has come back he is wondering why she does not seek out her parents for help and then things become strained between the two of them because she will not see, or talk to him. Hunter goes on hurting but knows what happened was for the best and still is waiting for her to see how much he loves her. Will she figure it out? Read this wonderful story to find out.
