TOSSED INTO LOVE (Fluke My Life #3)

TOSSED INTO LOVE                       AURORA ROSE REYNOLDS

Libby Reed is over it. Or that’s what she tells herself. She’s lusted after one of New York’s bravest for years, but firefighter Antonio Moretti has doused her interest for the last time. As much as she wants the arrogant jerk (in a bad, bad way), they can’t even be in the same room without setting each other off…which might be a problem now that she’s volunteered to help out in his family’s restaurant.

Antonio’s been burned before. Now he knows better than to trust a pretty face and follow another pair of long, beautiful legs into heartbreak. But while Libby might rub him the wrong way, he can’t deny the heat between them. And it only burns hotter when she steps up in his time of need. The closer they get, the more he realizes he may have misjudged her. Then again, he doesn’t know the secret Libby’s keeping that could send their relationship up in flames before it’s even begun.

MY REVIES:
Being that this is the only book in the series that I’ve read I have to say I didn’t feel cheated at all.  The two characters were well developed as well as their supporting characters.
You have Libby Reed the independent go-getter who enjoys fashion.  So, she works two jobs to support her love of it.  One of which is her own business.  But she is a smart consumer anyone can buy designer at full price it is the smart consumer who can find it at the lowest price.  So, she knows where and how to shop.
Then there is our Alpha Male and the all around, sexy brooding firefighter, Antonio Moretti.  He is who was burnt by his only true love and will not allow anyone to do that to him again even though from the moment he saw Libby he’s lusted after her.  But seeing her with designer labels lets him know she would be no different than his last girlfriend where nothing is ever good enough including him.  So, to keep her at bey he picked on her and was a real jerk.
There was your comic relief Ms. Ina.  Libby’s downstairs senior citizen neighbor.  She is nosy, hard of hearing (selectively), meddling, and a spy for her mom tattling on her and her sister when she is there.  You see at one time her other two sisters lived there too.  But she is funnier than all get out.
The whole thing revolves around Antonio’s dad becoming ill and going into the hospital.  His mom has to be with him.  Since Antonio is the only child he is taking it over as well as doing his own job.  The thing is he hates the pizza shop.  Libby not only loves his parents she loves working at the pizza shop when it gets busy when Tony and Martina need help.
You see when she was a teen on Long Island she used to work at a pizza shop.  When she moved to NY she missed home a lot.  When she found Tony’s Pizza with Tony and Martina they welcomed her with open arms and her sisters too.  She loves going there and visiting them.  She had seen Antonia and developed a crush early on and she thought he might have one too until one day he just started being a jerk.
When she finds out that her sisters are helping out she volunteers.  Antonio is not happy but he takes because he needs it.  He has no choice.  What surprises him is that she is good at what she does and she is happy while she does it.  She is good with the other employees and customers.  When the longtime employees ask about her experience she tells them about the pizza shop back home that she started working in, when she was a teen.  Working until she moved for college.  Had she stayed there they would have made her manager.
As weeks go by Antonio starts letting his guard down.  They start being more of what you would call acquaintances really.  Not quite friends until her boss at the salon where she is a fulltime hairdresser and makeup artist sets her up on a blind date again.  He hears about it and goes ballistic in a quiet kind of way.  Like a peacock spreads his fan.
All of a sudden, he wants to dismiss her from working at the pizza shop.  She sets him straight, telling him, she is not his employee that she is there to help his parents.  So, she’s staying, because she wants to be there.  If he needs to hire another person there do it for himself, the person who actually doesn’t want to be there.  Let’s just say things start to heat up after that.
See how these two, stumble, fall and pick themselves back up again.  See if their strong enough to make the grade together.  The best part is the time lapse epilogue in the advance.  Loved it.  I give this: 5 stars.
