HER WICKED STEPBROTHER AMY OLLE
My stepbrother hates me.
That’s fine because I hate him too.
I hate his crooked smile and the way he looks at me like he’s a sugar addict and I’m the last cupcake on earth. I hate that he makes me feel like I’m more than that lost little girl whose mom didn’t want her, then leaves and doesn’t come home again for days.
And I really, really hate that he flirts with other girls.
A lot of other girls.
But it’s fine. Really, it is. Soon, he’ll be leaving to attend university on the other side of the world, and I’ll only have to see him on holidays and at the rare family get-together. It’ll all be just fine.
As long as I don’t fall in love with him.
MY REVIEW
My first time reading this author and I hope not my last. This was a novella for the novel the Saint that completes the story of Brynn and Aiden. Wow! This is such a good story, this author does not mess around she hits the ground running. We find out at the same time Brynn does that her dad’s online girlfriend is moving to the US with her three boys so, they can get married. Wait! What? Yup, married. Oh, yeah one future stepbrother the youngest, Rory, is a freshman in high school, and fourteen soon to be fifteen. Cian, is fifteen soon to be sixteen, and a sophomore. Then, there is Aiden, the one that takes Brynn’s breath away. He is seventeen, like herself, but six months old also a senior.
They had some time to get to know one another over summer, but they were from Ireland, and just learning what they are saying, has been a challenge. But, for her, she went from cooking for her and her dad, to now a total of six. It didn’t take long before she got tired of her modern-day Cinderella routine. So, she just stopped. Her stepmom to be honest, did not handle her mothering skills well, but the sex kitten bit she has down pat. And once married, soon after they are pregnant. Then, she wants a bigger house. Her dad is overwhelmed so, all the kids pitch in to help to yield a better profit so, her dad could buy the house she wants.
She feels Aiden is starting to like her as a person. Once the projects over, however, he is back to scowling and dating, This makes her feel defeated at ever finding anyone to like her or love her. When Aiden saves her from something embarrassing, to her personally, she feels closer to him. Sometimes she feels she can see it in his eyes then poof it’s gone. She spends most of the book wondering why everyone leaves her or hates her. Walking through some difficult moments head-on.
Enjoy the ride you’ll love the easy-going feel of the characters but at times the indifference Aiden shows is loud and you are wondering how can no one see it? He loves her! I give this: 5 stars. Received during July book giveaway.
