Hairlarious Cat Tails is a vibrant coffee table book filled with fun and beautiful images. It provides a much-desired glimpse into the minds of our most mysterious of loved ones.

What makes cats climb into tiny spaces? Why do they sleep that much? And, most of all, how can we give them a good life? They may seem low-maintenance but thoughtfulness about where you put their water, how warm or cool they like to be, what name to choose and how to groom them properly will make a life-changing difference.

They even have a calming effect on their owners, from the soothing action of petting to purring being an aid in falling asleep. Cats can even play a part in lowering your blood pressure and risk of a heart attack. One 10-year study has even shown that cat owners were 30% less likely to die of a heart attack or stroke than non-cat owners.

Another great reason to have a sweet cat in your life.

Her Wicked Stepbrother (Nolan Bastards #0.5)

 HER WICKED STEPBROTHER                        AMY OLLE

My stepbrother hates me.

That’s fine because I hate him too.

I hate his crooked smile and the way he looks at me like he’s a sugar addict and I’m the last cupcake on earth. I hate that he makes me feel like I’m more than that lost little girl whose mom didn’t want her, then leaves and doesn’t come home again for days.

And I really, really hate that he flirts with other girls.

lot of other girls.

But it’s fine. Really, it is. Soon, he’ll be leaving to attend university on the other side of the world, and I’ll only have to see him on holidays and at the rare family get-together. It’ll all be just fine.

As long as I don’t fall in love with him.

MY REVIEW

My first time reading this author and I hope not my last. This was a novella for the novel the Saint that completes the story of Brynn and Aiden. Wow! This is such a good story, this author does not mess around she hits the ground running. We find out at the same time Brynn does that her dad’s online girlfriend is moving to the US with her three boys so, they can get married. Wait! What? Yup, married. Oh, yeah one future stepbrother the youngest, Rory, is a freshman in high school, and fourteen soon to be fifteen. Cian, is fifteen soon to be sixteen, and a sophomore. Then, there is Aiden, the one that takes Brynn’s breath away. He is seventeen, like herself, but six months old also a senior.

They had some time to get to know one another over summer, but they were from Ireland, and just learning what they are saying, has been a challenge. But, for her, she went from cooking for her and her dad, to now a total of six. It didn’t take long before she got tired of her modern-day Cinderella routine. So, she just stopped. Her stepmom to be honest, did not handle her mothering skills well, but the sex kitten bit she has down pat. And once married, soon after they are pregnant. Then, she wants a bigger house. Her dad is overwhelmed so, all the kids pitch in to help to yield a better profit so, her dad could buy the house she wants.

She feels Aiden is starting to like her as a person. Once the projects over, however, he is back to scowling and dating, This makes her feel defeated at ever finding anyone to like her or love her. When Aiden saves her from something embarrassing, to her personally, she feels closer to him. Sometimes she feels she can see it in his eyes then poof it’s gone. She spends most of the book wondering why everyone leaves her or hates her. Walking through some difficult moments head-on.

Enjoy the ride you’ll love the easy-going feel of the characters but at times the indifference Aiden shows is loud and you are wondering how can no one see it? He loves her! I give this: 5 stars. Received during July book giveaway.

Beckett (Alpha Company Renegades #1)

BECKETT                                                      KALI HART

 Sara

The last place I want to be is out at a bar, stuck on a horrible double date, wearing these stupid shoes.
Not surprisingly, I almost kiss the concrete when I trip.
I’m saved by the sexiest man I’ve ever seen.
Too bad I’m here with someone else.
But when my date crosses the line, my military hero is there to save me.
Again.
Though the sparks between us are instant, I have to guard my heart.
I’m tired of feeling like I owe people for helping me.
If only we had met at another time when my life wasn’t such a mess.

Beckett

When I catch the curvy beauty in my arms, I’m instantly drawn to her.
I don’t even know her name, but I know I have to have her.
I only came out tonight to keep an eye on my guys and make sure they stay out of trouble.
But once I meet Sara, I feel the need to protect her at all costs.
Especially from her date.
She’s guarded, and I can’t blame her.
She’s been taken advantage of for far too long.
But I’ll stop at nothing until she realizes that the only thing I want from her is her heart.
Forever.

Sweet & Steamy short story insta-love romance with an alpha military hero and younger curvy woman with a HEA. NO cliffhangers. NO cheating.

MY REVIEW

When Sara is guilted into attending an outdoor concert with her not so nice roommate, Rachel she truly regrets it. Not only will she have to suffer through a date with, Chad, but Rachel has her wearing these ‘killer’ pencil heels. She says they make her look hot or something. Yeah, she thinks, ‘Yeah, my BBW ass thanks you but my feet hate you I’m sure.’ They stop at the bar first where of course Rachel ditches her to get to her date. As Sara weaves through the crowd on uneven concrete she gets tripped up. Her drink goes flying and she’s seeing blue sky waiting for the hard hit.

All she feels are two muscular arms and chest around her as they save her and some chilly metal dog tags falling into her ample cleavage. Military man for sure. When he brings her up to standing her doesn’t release her. She’s thinking they both like the feeling and contact. He asks if I’m alright and steady. She mentions the shoes and he asks is she has another pair? Let the bantering begin. Their chemistry is fast and real but then they both remember the real world around them. They disconnect and she finally ends up with Chad.

There is something about Sara that tells Beckett to keep an eye out. When she goes to sit at the very table of one of the men in his unit he needs to watch heightens his senses even more for his girl. This may be an OTT short but it’s sweet. I give this: 5 stars. Received during July book giveaway.

My Best Friend's Brother (Make Her Mine #1)

MY BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER                        ALEXIS WINTER

My best friend’s older brother and the center of every single one of my fantasies.

He’s a walking, talking temptation.
That cocky grin and those broad, athletic shoulders.
You know what they say about a man with big hands right?
Growing up, we always tormented one another.
I was the nagging, annoying little girl he hated.
And he was the man-whoring, douchebag I couldn’t seem to get over.
Now as adults he actually came through and helped me land a job at my dream company.
How the hell am I supposed to focus when all I can think about is tearing that tight suit from his tempting body!
What’s even worse?
He forgot to mention he’s my boss.

MY REVIEW

When your hearts fall in love at five and eight what can you possibly do but fight against it especially when she’s your youngest sister’s best friend? That’s exactly what happened to Jazzy and Damon. Not only were they next-door neighbors their commonality was Damon’s sister, Maddie. As the trio ages, Demon becomes the two girl’s self-proclaimed protector and defender. Jazzy had to watch him parade all kinds of girls that she felt she could never aspire to be in their realm of excellence in beauty.

However, looking back he had them deflect from what he truly wanted which was her. Knowing the family and Maddie in particular made. Making it hard on both of them. On the other hand, doing this to piss off Damon came easily, especially when you have a free friend like Maddie to lead you down the broken trail of independence.

When Damon lends a hand getting Jazzy a job within his company she joins with great joy. Yet, when she arrives she’s annoyed, feeling like once again Damon is not taking her seriously and pranking her. She finds out that Damon omitted the fact that she will not be coming up through the normal ranks stepping in as Damon’s P.A. Are things in the past really the way they remember it? Or were they feeling overly sensitive not being seen and truly acknowledge by the other?

Those remain to be seen, but I can tell you this, the does the POV in the moment of what is happening around them. Not just thoughts but in conversation with one another. No light questioning here the ask the tough one to have the one that had hurt your heart back then and now it needs and wants answers. Not sure how I felt about Maddie. In comparison to the rest of the feel of their story, she is negative. Sexual content.

I give this: 5 ++++ stars. Found free on Amazon.

Accidental Engagement (Accidentally Yours #4)

ACCIDENTAL ENGAGEMENT                         SCOTT WILDER

I’m Leslie Kaufman, co-owner of KLeaning Services Unlimited.
The name says it all, I guess.
I’m used to pandering to the excesses of rich and eccentric clients.
Billionaire Jack Morton fits the bill, for sure.
He requests some rather unorthodox help from me.
He needs to fool his mother into thinking he is engaged.
To me.
I’m not sure why I agreed to do it; maybe to add some excitement to my boring existence.

Things spin out of control quickly when his mother shows up with her aloof manner and spouting her disappointments about Jack’s personal life.

MY REVIEW

Strong alpha male billionaire hires a strong alpha female employees to work above and beyond. Jack hires Leslie one of the owners of the cleaning service that manages his estate who he knows has spunk and is very attractive, to be his fake girlfriend. You see his mother believes he is much too old to still be out there womanizing. It is time for him to settle down with a good woman and give her the grandchildren she so wants.
When his mother call to surprise him, to tell him that she is on her way for a visit and that she hopes to see that he actually has a real girlfriend. Him being a problem solver decides after meeting Leslie and see she doesn’t back down from a challenge, he believes she’s the one. At first, she thinks he is crazy. But when he’s not and offers cash who is she to judge.
But they are left with egg on their faces when they get played by the best. She makes no excuses for her ruse either. But when the ending comes. It is less than perfect for the was the rest of the story was running. It felt abrupt and so rushed to nowhere.
Received this during the July book giveaway. I give this: 4 stars.

Must Love Dogs...and Hockey (Bears Hockey #1)

MUST LOVE DOGS...AND HOCKEY                        KELLY JAMIESON

Lilly: My life is like the love child of a train wreck and a dumpster fire right now. I’ve been canned, my professional reputation is shredded, and now I’m walking dogs to make ends meet.
But I still believe everything will work out. Somehow.
Then a dog at the park attacks my friend’s dog. At first, I’m ready to give the owner hell—but it turns out he’s in desperate need of doggie daycare. I figure, why not? I love dogs and I need the cash.
Too bad his cocky bad boy attitude annoys me. He’s too damn cute for his own good. And I’m not talking about the dog.

Easton: My coach is riding my ass and I’m not handling it well. When I’m saddled with an abandoned pooch, my teammate thinks a dog will keep my temper in check. I think I have enough problems already.
But when my new dog gets into a tussle that leads me to meet a smoking hot chick who knows how to handle the rascal, I start to think pet ownership isn’t all bad. At least it gives me an excuse to see Lilly again. . . .
Neither of us are interested in a relationship. First, they steal your bed, then they steal your heart. And I’m not talking about the dog.

PAT'S REVIEW

Lilly’s life has down in flames, at least her professional life. Fired again from another job in the same field she is now looking at never working again in the hospitality field. This is all going through her mind of course as she has no job and no prospects for one either.
Hockey player Easton is still feeling new to the team that traded for him and he has not opened up to any of the other players. He has been getting a lot of lip from the coach and he is tired of hearing it. Home form a road trip, he enters his apartment complex only to see a woman stepping into an elevator and the dog she has been caught on the outside of the door. With the dog being straggled he rushes to the door and is able to disconnect the dog from his leash. The woman comes downstairs and gives Easton the dog running out of the apartment complex.
Lilly has begun walking a dog for money and while at the dog park her dog is being jumped on by another dog. When the owner of that dog comes over, she is surprised at how good looking he is but is still upset with him about allowing his dog to be off its leash. Easton thinking that Lilly is very attractive tells her that he has just gotten the dog named Otis and it is not until much later that she finds out what happened in order for him to get the dog. Later that day he asks her if she would be willing to watch his dog for three days because he has to go out of town. She agrees. It is after this that she decides to start a dog walking business and Easton helps her as much as she will let him.
This is not a fast romance story. Though they both like each other the author makes this a slow build-up and as they become more into each other both of their pasts are becoming a problem. Each has to work through them in order to have a future. The issues that she deals with especially with Easton’s coach is something that is not tolerated anymore and I am surprised to say when I played sports in the early to mid-seventies some of those practices were allowed. Of course, not now but even then, as a teen I thought what the coach was doing was wrong but none of us said anything. I am glad for all of the issues that were talked about and for the wonderful story about these two characters. Another good Kelly Jamieson book. PAT'S REVIEW

I found this book to be full of information about a woman that I grew up listening to. What I did not know though was that she also wrote songs and some for movies. One of her most famous ones was “Lady and the Tramp”. That was very interesting information.
Here the book follows her life from Jamestown North Dakota to then singing with the Benny Goodman Band then leaving with another band member to marry they moved to Hollywood. Here is where she would write for movies and star in some and also co-write with other people and come out with other albums. “New American Blues” and “Pete Kelly Blues” would be two big records for her. She would write three songs for the movie “Lady and the Tramp” the title song which she sang, the Siamese cat song, and “He’s a Tramp”. This I did not know. She would later co-write a song with Duke Ellington and also Cy Coleman. Still her rendition of the song “Fever” from 1958 which is still a fantastic song and one that I remembered her from. Once I learned about her I then knew that I had heard her also growing up for my father listened to Benny Goodman and so she was one of the early singers. The information about her songwriting I did not know and was glad to find out. Overall a very good book about a wonderful singer. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. The Book of Two Ways

THE BOOK OF TWO WAYS                                JODI PICOULT

Everything changes in a single moment for Dawn Edelstein. She's on a plane when the flight attendant makes an announcement: prepare for a crash landing. She braces herself as thoughts flashed through her mind. The shocking thing is, the thoughts are not of her husband, but a man she last saw fifteen years ago: Wyatt Armstrong.

Dawn, miraculously, survives the crash, but so do all the doubts that have suddenly been raised. She has led a good life. Back in Boston, there is her husband, Brian, her beloved daughter, and her work as a death doula, where she helps ease the transition between life and death for patients in hospice.

But somewhere in Egypt is Wyatt Armstrong, who works as an archaeologist unearthing ancient burial sites, a job she once studied for but was forced to abandon when life suddenly intervened. And now, when it seems that fate is offering her second chances, she is not as sure of the choice she once made.

After the crash landing, the airline ensures the survivors are seen by a doctor, then offers transportation wherever they want to go. The obvious option for Dawn is to continue down the path she is on and go home to her family. The other is to return to the archaeological site she left years before, reconnect with Wyatt and their unresolved history, and maybe even complete her research on The Book of Two Ways--the first known map of the afterlife.

As the story unfolds, Dawn's two possible futures unspool side by side, as do the secrets and doubts long-buried beside them. Dawn must confront the questions she's never truly asked: What does a life well-lived look like? When we leave this earth, what do we leave behind? Do we make choices...or do our choices make us? And who would you be, if you hadn't turned out to be the person you are right now?

PAT'S REVIEW

The book opens with a woman Dawn Edelstein preparing for a crash landing like all of the other passengers on the plane. Expecting to see her husbands’ face before the crash she is surprised when the face that appears in her mind is from her past, Wyatt Armstrong. They were together on a dig in Egypt when she was a grad student at Yale. She had not thought of him or Egypt in years since she had to leave suddenly because of her mother having cancer.
Here is where the book begins to take you on a journey of her getting a plane ticket to Egypt and finishing what she had once started. Also, you have the author going back through her life of being married, having a daughter, and why she would even want to think about that. There is a lot to this book and the characters are good. It just seemed long and at the end well? Anyway, a good story. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Dead Man Dancing: A Novel

 DEAD MAN DANCING                               JOHN GALLIGAN

It’s a time for celebration in Bad Axe County as the town gathers for the annual Syttende Mai—or Norwegian Independence Day—festival. During this rollicking family-oriented event filled with dancing and food, Sheriff Heidi Kick discovers a dark and shocking event—a migrant worker has been savagely beaten but refuses to explain what happened. Then, a sudden murder of a band member shatters the festival. Something is deeply wrong in Bad Axe County.

As she looks for answers, Heidi plunges into a secret underworld where high-stakes cage fights double as combat training for the White Nationalist movement. Then all hell breaks loose for Heidi when her husband disappears and a secret he’s been keeping from Heidi is revealed.

A timely portrait of the deep divisions and simmering tensions brewing in our country today, Dead Man Dancing takes you into the dark heart of a movement defined by violence and hate. Featuring John Galligan’s signature “striking prose, engaging characters” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review), and unforgettable twists and turns, Dead Man Dancing is a breathless thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

PAT'S REVIEW

I did not read the first book but here you are getting ready for a Norwegian holiday and you also have a man looking forward to having not only his book being published but also selling it at the festival. The book is one of the genealogy of the area which he believes to be of vital importance.
Sheriff Heide Kick has noticed an influx of violence lately and is working at stopping it, one of the persons involved in her brother in law. Heidi is also dealing with her husband who feels left out because she is spending time away from him and the family. She feels guilty as well because she is a mother and she does not feel that she spends enough time with her children. With everything going on and then a murder she is working on stopping the people from changing her town from a nice sleepy one to a violent one.
The topic of this story centers around race and how some people from the town don’t believe that any African Americans settled in Wisconsin or their town. That they could be descendants of slaves is a whole other issue. The book itself was a good story with different storylines with different characters. This topic though hot now is really one that should be taught in schools. Freed slaves were given land to settle throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana. Churches, schools, and communities were built yet this is never taught. Hell, here in California we had our own community named Colonel Allensworth who was the highest-ranking black officer of the Civil War. He retired in 1906 and came to California and set up a community of freed slaves, with their own school, bank, church and they framed themselves as well. Sadly, it went away when he passed in 1914. But these communities were around everywhere they are just not talked about or taught. This book gives a little history into it. A very good book. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Because someone in the villa may be prepared to kill to keep their secret hidden.

PAT'S REVIEW

This book opens with what you think is a group of old friends getting back together for a vacation. This something that they used to do but life has gotten away from them. Once they arrive at their destination in France. You get the feeling that there is something wrong with the marriage but could it be just because of work and the children.
Kate though looks at her husbands’ phone after multiple pings and realizes that he is having an affair and the other person is with them for the week. Now she must find out which one of her friends is having an affair with her husband?
What I the reader was not expecting was the way the story turned and though yes you had an affair it really was more and what Kate would lose was far worse than a marriage. The surprises and twists that this story took made this for an interesting read. A good book. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Book Two: Two Reasons to Run

PAT'S REVIEW

I did not read the first book but it still was able to connect with the character of the sheriff but felt lost with some of the other characters and part of the story with her son. The book opens with death on an oil rig in the Gulf. Then a mother coming to the sheriff with the son missing and whether it is a suicide, murder, or just a missing case. There is also a hint of a possible threat of an explosion of the rig which would cause devastating harm to wildlife and to the livelihood of the people along the gulf coast.
So as Jane is dealing with one possibility about a terrorist threat, she is also still dealing with her son being in her life from apparently the first book. She is also dealing with the boy’s father also. You have two things happening which for me once I felt like I got caught up in the story seemed to work and after the halfway point was a good book. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 3 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
