PERSUASION #1

PERSUASION  #1                                              VIOLETTA RAND

Persuasion by Violetta RandLang Anderson may be the new leader of the Sons of Odin motorcycle club, but his personal life is in shreds. He’s struggling to take care of his three young sisters in the wake of tragedy, while rumors of drug dealing within his ranks jeopardize everything he’s built. The last thing he needs is another distraction—like a bar brawl over a woman—but Lang is a sucker for a damsel in distress. And this one gets him roaring like a finely tuned engine.

High school guidance counselor Lily Gallo is no fender bunny. So why can’t she get Lang off her mind? Lily’s head says the rugged, rough-and-tumble biker who came to her aid is bad news. Her body begs to differ. But when Lang’s troubled kid sister walks into her office, Lily’s determined to help, even if it puts her in the crossfire of a gang war. On a crash course with danger and desire, Lily partners up with Lang to fight for his family—and for love.
MY REVIEW:
Lang Anderson was a man on a mission. You see just seven months ago his parents were killed in a motorcycle accident.   Leaving Jess Mansard acting president of the Sons of Odin MC.  The left him full custody of his three sisters.  Whose lives are shattered, vulnerable, and leaving them scared.
Now though things had to change. Jess was brought up on charges and if he is found guilty he could get the death penalty.  Or plead out and get life.  Either way sealing his fate.  Lang would be the president.  One never wanted or dreamed of at all.
He will be a third-generation member, Lang held partial deed in the club property and bar.  Now it was time for the charging of the guards and those he brings with him.  Which will be interesting transition.  You see Lang had no choice being the only son of the former president and grandson of the founder of the club he was so slated.  The only time he lived a so called normal life was school which he took full advantage of all things offered because at the end to high school reality began.
His dad was a hard man.  Although they never got along he respected and loved him and mourns him.  His dad could never understand the new breed of bikes coming in and the call for less violence and a new way to do business. Lang had to change though he had his sisters to think about and he couldn’t let them down.
One night when he had him and his officers go out to a nightclub to relax away from the clubhouse, their night club or anything related to the MC.  With the bad press they had been getting due to Jess the past president of Sons of Odin they need to just sit back and have a few drinks and relax.
It was karaoke and classic rock: “Party like a Rock Star Night” at Tito’s.  Lilliana (Lily) Gallo who had just moved here from Philadelphia and her college best friend Tina were going to go and enjoy a fun night.  A couple of times she almost talked herself out of it.  You see she moved here to discover herself and escaped her parents, who were having a messy divorce.  She did make it to Texas to be a high school guidance counselor.  This night she was just a twenty something out with a friend having a good time.  Except for one problem.  When she and Tina come off the stage after singing two karaoke songs and they were blocked by two mean looking bikers they scream out when one of them grabs Lily’s ass.  When Lang hears that he jumps up.
When all of a sudden two sexier than all get out men come to their aid the two women back up a foot and the sexier of the two men gets in between Lily and the man that had grabbed her ass.  Basically to keep the women out of harm’s way.  The rescuers are Vincent and the President of the Sons of Odin Lang Anderson.  They get rid of the other two guys and ask Lily and Tina to join them for drinks.  Not knowing who the guys are they say sure for they are grateful for the rescue.  You see Lang has eyes for Lily and vice a versa.  When they introduce one another and they shake hands they feel the electricity and know there is something more.

This was one interesting story one that I was not expecting at all. I was expecting blood and guts you know stereotyping.  Yet the thing was not the way it was.  This was very endearing and so worth the read for sure.  I give this 5 stars.  Provided by netgalley.com.  Follow us at: www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

REMAKING RYAN

REMAKING RYAN                                           JACIE FLOYD

Remaking Ryan (The Billionaire Brotherhood Book 3)In Book Three of the Billionaire Brotherhood, Ryan Eastham appears to have it all—fame, fortune, and legendary good looks—but injury has ended his high-profile professional football career and he’s at loose ends. After years of living, breathing, and training for football, he’s searching for something meaningful to do with his future. He expects nothing but boredom from the on-air sports announcer job he’s been offered, and his so-called love life is more tabloid fiction than fact.

Due to the shattering betrayal of her late husband, Jenna McCall is wary of men and their meaningless promises. Isolating herself from friends and family while she reexamines her goals and dreams, her one year old daughter is her sole focus. Ryan’s unscheduled intrusion into her life leaves her irritated, edgy, and a little intrigued.

Family commitments throw this pair together as reluctant companions on a cross-country drive from Massachusetts to Missouri. Despite a wrong turn, stolen car, and fussy baby, they find unexpected pleasure in one another’s company. Amid wedding chaos and intense family drama in St. Louis, they each proceed with plans to start new careers in different parts of the country, but their attraction continues to build. When it’s time to say good-bye, Ryan challenges Jenna to remake their lives and plan a future together instead.

MY REVIEW:
Jenna McCall was not seasoned when it came to dating but the two men she dated and one of which she married cheated on her.  The second one being her husband Matt.  When she was two month pregnant she knew he was having an affair so not only was she having to mourn her hero husband but she had to deal with guilt of being angry with him at the same time.  Causing herself to close herself and her daughter Elly off to everyone even her family.
Then her father Joel calls and says Abby’s nephew Ryan Eastham, who is like a son to her just had surgery.  They were supposed to be coming to stay with him and care for him but there was delay.  Could she go until they could get there?  She really doesn’t want to.  She has Elly and self-pity and anger to work on.  She goes anyway.
Now she hasn’t seen Ryan in over a year since Matt’s funeral.  That was a blur.  You see Ryan was a pro football player sidelined for good, due to this last knee injury.  When she gets there he’s like where’s Abby?  What are you doing here?  She starts to explain when the nurse comes in and she’s like…”Oh goody your ride!  You can finally leave!”  He’s like, “Yup!”  Jenna’s like, “Oh?” when he grabs her hand and pulls her to his chest, saying something like work with me basically.
Jenna springs him but when she ask if he doesn’t live far he says not much.  Yet, and hour plus later he is not happy.  Especially after just trying to get him in the car.  (Comical!)  She just about has her fill when he starts ordering her around.  She can’t leave him at home it goes against all the paperwork instructions she signed him out on.
While Ryan is staying at the beach house with Jenna he talks to his aunt Abby.  She tells him they are all worried that Jenna is dragging her feet about coming to his sister’s wedding.  So, she asked that he do all he can to get her there.  When she decides to drive to her dad’s for the wedding she has it all planned to come up with an excuse to not make it there.  So when Ryan decides to drive with her to help with Elly and to be a tag team for safety she is pissed.  She is not a happy camper knowing she will have to use other measures to slow them down.  Basically, she doesn’t want all the family to know her business when comes to the truth of her husband’s unfaithfulness and death.  She doesn’t want them to know she doesn’t have a job or a home or that it wasn’t her fault her first relationship failed because of the betrayal of her ex and with her best friend.  So why would she want to go...
This was a fun book in that here you have this couple that have been circling each other for years.  Never truly aware of one another.  Yet, when the doo-doo hit the fan they could let each other down.  Not to mention the family that brought them in the same orbit to begin with.  This is Ryan’s side of the family communicates to well and Jenna’s not so much.
This book comes with twist and turns and they will make you say Hmm?  I could understand the questioning and second guessing herself.  When you come from a place of betrayal and not foundation of truth it can make you unsure of who and what is real.  I give this 5 stars.  Provided by netgalley.com.

SHATTERED HEART #3

SHATTERED HEART #3                               DOROTHY F. SHAW

Shattered Heart by Dorothy F. ShawA crush is just a fantasy. The real thing packs some serious heat.
The Donnellys, Book 3
When Cynthia Donnelly lays eyes on her high school crush at her brother’s wedding rehearsal, she regrets her self-imposed, one-year moratorium on dating. If possible, he’s even hotter now than when they were teens.
Back in school, Shane made a point to ignore his best friend’s cute, sassy little sister. Now that she’s grown into an incredibly sexy woman full of Irish spunk, resisting her is out of the question. Besides, in his book, all “hands-off” rules have expired.
One sizzling night together should have been enough. Instead, the heat rises, tempting Cyn to take a chance on a long-distance relationship and making Shane consider pulling up stakes and moving back to L.A.
Cyn’s recently dumped ex, however, has other ideas. His quest to get her back escalates into violence, shattering Cyn’s faith in herself, and in anyone else of the male persuasion, and leaving Shane with his work cut out for him to repair the damage—or lose his shot at a once-in-a-lifetime love.
Warning: This book contains a physical assault. Buckle up for a bumpy emotional journey with the characters as they fall apart and then slowly find their way to healing, and to each other. You might get angry or tearful along the way, you may even get frustrated, but as is with any good love story, it’ll be worth it in the end.

MY REVIEW:
What happens when fantasy becomes reality?  Do you embrace it or run from it?  Guess you’ll have to see…
Cynthia (Cyn) Donnelly was coming to grips that her boyfriend Carlos was pulling away.  They had been dating a year and well it was about the same time with all her exes seemed to go south.  Now she could hear herself begging for his time.  So on a night a few days before her brother’s wedding she was actually glad to be on the couch alone with a chick flick for she had been busy at work.
You see a few days before Carlos had blown off a dinner with a couple of her siblings.  So as she’s watching the movie her phone rings and it’s Carlos.  She answers says hello but what she hears is rustling material and a woman giggling.  Then she hears Carlos say come here baby let me take care of that. Or at least something to that effect.  Then more material moving around, then the phone goes dead.
She throws on some shoes on gets her keys and heads to Carlos’s where she catches him off guard.  He’s half undressed and she finds a woman coming from his room she dumps him right there and then!
A couple of days later is the wedding rehearsal and bachelor and bachelorette parties.  Guess who is in town?  The unofficial brother, Shane Conlon, Cyn’s crush from junior high until 11th grade.  She used to tag along everywhere Shane and Joey her brother went.  Until they scared her off and that was often.  In the 11th grade Shane shipped off to boot camp.  She’d written him a few letters but he never answered them.  By the time she was a senior she had moved on.  Because really all she would ever really be is Joey’s little sister.
Now seventeen years later he’s just sitting in the pew at the church for her brother’s wedding rehearsal.  Burning a hole in her ass because he’s staring at it so hard.  All those years he almost lived in their house and he never noticed her.  Now…
Well after the rehearsal the guys and girls split up and all Cyn and Shane can think of is each other.  So when it was time for both parties to merge and the two literally run into each other the sexual chemistry is hotter than dynamite.  One kiss and it’s on like Donkey Kong.  (Think I just dated myself, Oh Well!)  If you have a problem with graphic erotica description then this is not the book for you.  If you have a fear of violence to women this is not the book for you.  I will say I have heard worse on the news and that it is done in the context of the story line and in good taste.  Yet, the emotional rollercoaster it took her on was gut wrenching.
But if you want to read a story of a fun loving family who says what they mean and means what they say.  Yet, always with and out of love this is the book for you.  You will laugh, cry, feel fear, and a whole lot more.  I give this 5 ++++ stars.

HIS REASON TO STAY #6

HIS REASON TO STAY #6                                   CATHRYN FOX

His Reason to Stay by Cathryn Fox"They made one beautiful mistake. The consequences could haunt them for life."

"Warning: Contains a hot military man who will steal your panties as well as your heart.""

MY REVIEW:
How do you tell your heart who to love and to what degree?  Well that is the problem facing Rachel Andrews (Nelson) you see she was a girl from the wrong side of the track.  She was lonely young and shy girl.  Her friend Sara introduced her to the Nelson brothers James the elder brother and Kyle.
They were instant friends from day one they did everything together.  By James and Rachel’s senior year Rachel was starting to feel mixed emotions for the brothers.  She started hanging out more with Kyle though.  They went to the drive-in, watched chick-flicks, and went out to the bluffs.  He just used to be so in tuned with her.
But toward the end of school James started taking her out on dates.  Just kind of assumed it was the natural progression.  Then he was off to Harvard.  They didn’t break up but they did see much of each other.  Kyle seemed happy for them but it was truly killing him inside.  Kyle only ever wanted the best for James even at his own expense no matter what he had to give up.
When Kyle’s senior year starts he doesn’t tell anyone but he enlist before the school year ends by joining the Army.  Not saying goodbye to Rachel.  She was heartbroken.  After 4 months at Harvard and about the same time in the Army both come home to Rachel.  One the same day.  James decides to ask for her hand in marriage.  When asked she looks to Kyle as if waiting for an objection or something anything.  At first he is sitting ramrod straight arms crossed.  Then he nods yes, slightly, sits back relaxed making it her cue that he didn’t want her the way she wanted him.  So Rachel accepted James proposal.
Those wedding plans and details took their toll on Rachel because the guy’s mother disliked her.  Mainly for coming from the wrong side of the street. She hi-jacks the wedding.  The final straw was the honeymoon that James said he wanted and was excited about going on which was for Hawaii.  His mother says otherwise and he is jumping ship.  Plus he wasn’t even defending her to his mother so she throws the ring at him and calls off the wedding.  Runs to Kyle who’s in town for the wedding.  They end up at the bluffs.  One thing leads to another.
Kyle can’t take the guilt so he takes her right back to James and gets them squared away and back together.  Then he talks to his mother to get her squared away and out of their business too.  Then its two years before she sees him again.  Why?  She sees him at James’s funeral.

I really enjoyed this book the dynamics of Kyle and Ava are just the sweetest.  Kyle did need a love tap upside the head his belly aching was driving me crazy at some points.  Loved Ren too, Kyle’s dad, very wise man.  I give this 5 stars.  Provided by netgalley.com.  Follow us at:  www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

NAKED HUNGER #8

NAKED HUNGER #8                                    DESIREE HOLT

Naked Hunger (Naked Cowboys, #8)His heart has an appetite only one woman can satisfy.
Naked Cowboys, Book 8
Sable Hunter paid her dues caring for suburban pets in West Texas. Ready to get back to her first love—large animals—she’s excited about moving to Saddle Wells to take over for the retiring veterinarian. With a reputation to build, she can’t afford any distractions, and the sizzling heat between her and local rancher Ryan Donovan could seriously mess with her focus.
Ryan earned his stripes the hard way, one bull at a time on the rodeo circuit. Now he’s put his prize money to work raising bulls for competition. He can’t deny he misses the rush of pro riding—until the sweet new vet in town brings a different kind of excitement and makes him want to sweep her into his bed and his future.
Becoming friends with benefits sounds like an excellent compromise to Ryan until he can convince Sable she doesn’t have to choose between career and love. But a costly mistake could destroy her career, as well as any chance for happiness with the man she realizes she loves.
Warning: Contains a woman whose career is taking off, and a man whose career is changing direction faster than a spinning bull. Hang on, ladies, this cowboy’s got a free hand and it’s about to get wild!
MY REVIEW:
This was a fun western romance that was short and sweet.  Yet, you don’t come away feeling cheated.
This story is about Sable Hunter who has made a decision to leave the partnership she had a veterinarian clinic. Her partner was there longer so tended to think of her as a junior partner therefore giving her only small animals to work on.  When she was trained for the large animals namely bulls.
So when she found Dr. Peter Lynch’s ad she couldn’t believe it.  He was in a small town of Saddle Wells, Texas in Rowan County.  He has been a vet there for 35 years but is looking to retire on his boat and travel with his wife Maura.  When she goes to the town to see his clinic and ask all her questions to see if it’s the right if everyone she meets already has it in their head it’s a done deal.  Which is great but it’s the ranchers she has to win over in order to thrive and survive.
Doc takes her to lunch at the diner where everyone who goes into town on any given day goes and everyone was there.  Now mind you she had done her research she knew there was an ex-winning rodeo rider who was now doing a booming semen bull business.  As her and Doc are talking she feels the hairs on the back of her neck and arms stand up and then her body tingles.  But when she hears the man’s voice all her girly parts stand at attention.  That had never happened before ever.  She looks up and she takes in air but then she’s holding it until she can’t.  He’s the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, The Ryan Donovan the ex-rodeo rider.
Ryan is speaking to Doc but it is hard for him to make heads or tails of it.  He feels this weird connection to this new vet.  So he ask Doc if he is going to be bringing her out for a tour of Gold Buckle Ranch since she will be working his bulls.  Doc says yes.  They went on the tour itself alone when they were done before she got into Doc’s car she turns to say thank you putting out her hand as he says it was his pleasure and shakes her hand electricity shoots through.  This time she knows he felt it his eyes made a slight narrowing as he stared at her.
Buying the practice is the easy part what is she to do with the sexual charged man?  She can’t afford to have a scandal in a small town.  She can’t have a full on relationship she has a new business to baby.  Plus her hours most men can’t handle.  Can Ryan be that man?  Is he done with buckle bunnies?  Or is friends with benefits okay?
I enjoyed this book.  The relationship that these two share is hot from the start.  They want each other and town wants them together.  They want the vet there too.  But they know she has reservations about how she wants to be seen to the men in the town so her girlfriends that she met want to help her make it all work and they get their men behind her.  I give this 5 stars.

BY HER SIDE

BY HER SIDE                                                   LIZZY CHANDLER

By Her Side by Lizzy ChandlerShe would trust him with her life. But can either of them trust their hearts?

Rory Sutton Whitfield isn’t a princess, even though her wealthy family insists on treating her like one. Fresh from her travels and finally achieving the independence she craves, the last thing she wants is to become swept up in family problems. But her half-brother has disappeared and her grandfather insists on hiring a bodyguard for her. Rory won’t be controlled by anyone, especially not a taciturn detective like Vince Maroney, a man of few words who nonetheless arouses disturbing emotions.

Vince Maroney has learned his lesson about playing the hero; he stepped up once and it cost him everything. But when he saves the granddaughter of one of Sydney’s wealthiest men, he finds himself embroiled in events beyond his control. Rory is beautiful, smart, independent. But her family is all secrets and lies, money papered over injustices. Rory makes him feel things he thought long dead, but the pains of the past create distance, and she comes from a completely different world. How can one of Sydney’s pampered princesses ever find common ground with her reluctant bodyguard?
BY HER SIDE
What an interesting read.  This is not the typical type of love story I read but it was very enjoyable.  This was a mystery romance.  You see Rory Sutton Whitfield has lived out of Sydney, Australia for several years traveling the world. Trying to prove to prove to her overprotective family (mainly her grandfather (Pa) Edward Sutton) that she was not a princess.  Being wealth or should I say coming from a wealthy family had it’s a drawback too.  Or at least that was Rory’s take on it.
Traveling for her helped her connect with down to earth, everyday people, and even help those in need.  She collected items along the way in hopes of moving home to move back into a home she bought all by herself while going to college and opening a collectable store.
Her grandfather meets her at the airport with the limo which for once she didn’t mind since she was bone tired.  She asked about Jamie her have brother.  Saying she hadn’t heard from him and usually he would reach out once she would call him.  Her grandfather said he was probably on a climb not to worry.  She said yeah but even then he was using his Multi-Media to keep up with everyone but nothing.   Her grandfather looked sheepish.
He then said he need to stop by work for a quick minute if that was okay.  She said okay.  Then he said that he was the reason the Jamie was out of the office.  That he and Jamie had words after a board meeting.  He got mad words were said.  When they got to the Sutton Building Rory gets and goes to open her grandfather’s door but he makes a face and she steps back.
She’s looking around when she sees this big, tall, broad-shouldered man with dark hair coming out of the alley.  She notices the black t-shirt, faded jeans and biker boots.  Most of all she notices his purposeful stride as he hits the pavement.  While she was gone.  Excitement like a current charged through her body.  They are strong, determined, and sexy as hell, and most of all heartbreakers that she didn’t miss.
When she heard the roar of a load engine and screeching tires.  She turns to see a white hatchback accelerating down the street, she froze.  It was going straight for her.  The guy she had been watching yelled to her to watch out.  When all of a sudden his arm hooked around her waist and yanked her behind the limo.  She fell onto him, knocking him over with her landing on top of him.
She scrambled to the car her Pa was sitting rigid in the back seat.  The hatchback had side swiped the limo shearing of the door.  He Pa was clutching his chest, eyes closed, grey coloring, sweating forehead and shock.  No sign of injury.  The bent to listen to his heart then got his phone out called an ambulance.  The stranger wasn’t any stranger it turns out he is…
Detective Sergeant Vince Maroney and he realized that he needed to start working on this man or he stood no chance of making on this man or he stood no chance of making it until the ambulance got there.  He asked a bystander to help him get him out of the limo.  He was able to start CPR when the unit got there to get a heartbeat.  Then the pretty blonde girl who was in shock and the old guys granddaughter got in the ambulance with him.
One of his buddy’s was working the scene and said, “You know who that was right?  Sutton!  Like the Sutton old man Sutton and his granddaughter.”  Just his luck the people he needed or wanted to hate.  You see his wife soon to be ex worked for them but was killed in a car accident doing an errand for them.  In fact he had been on his way to collect her remains from her office.
He needed to know the old guy made it.  So he goes to the hospital.  He was to yes.  It wasn’t enough he needed to see if she was okay, he was lying to himself there was something about her.  He goes to the waiting room when he sees her she is excited to see him when the shake hands in greeting, electric shock happens.  The nurse comes and says he’s being moved from ICU to regular room she will take her to him.  She grabs his arm and drags him along.  She knows her Pa will want to thank him.  She also knows she can’t face this alone and she feels a connection with him and she needs his quiet strength. So he goes with her.
After a while she is asked to leave them both alone and come back when the detective comes to get her.  She’s then told when she comes back she will have 24 hour protection because it looks like the accident was deliberate.  She is not happy because once again her family is trying to manage her.  She sees what a toll it is taking on her Pa so she agrees.  Vince is not happy because he is not a bodyguard and his ties to Gina’s death he believes.  So he makes arrangements with a security team.
See how this story unfolds.  How these two most unlikely people use their unique ways of thinking to forge ahead to figure out what is happening.  Not always with suspense, sometimes with humor, and romance.  I give this 5 stars.

TONI J. STRAWN HERE FRIDAY AUTHOR OF: MOMENT OF WEAKNESS EXCERPT INCLUDED

Guess Who Will Be Here On Friday?
Toni J. Strawn

Author of:
It’s not that Abby Harkness’s ex cheated. Hell, it’s not even that he did the dirty with her own sister. The worst part? Everyone—even her own mother—knew about it before she did.

These days, Abby’s nomadic job makes it easy to stick to the rules that protect her heart. Rule number one: Never stay in any man’s bed more than one night. But when a carefully planned tryst falls through, she finds herself stranded in a boardroom—naked—with the one man who makes her body scream danger.

Three hours of mind-blowing sex later, Marcus Brookhein walks out of the boardroom feeling like he just lost. That doesn’t sit with someone who lives and breathes competition. Next time, he’s making the rules. Starting by getting her assigned to work side by side with him.

Abby is desperate not to repeat a night of pleasure that left cracks in her carefully constructed defenses. But four long weeks of close proximity loom before her. And Marcus has a lot to teach her about playing dirty…

The moment when Abby first realised she might be in trouble...
The intensity of his stare was enough to give her pause. He had an air about him, like he was sizing Abby up to procure her. She understood then, that the less she wanted to become his acquisition, the harder he would play. This was a man who would not give up easily. This was a man who’d want far more than Abby was willing to offer. Behind his confident smile he shrewdly assessed every move as if he knew and accepted her challenge. Instinct kicked in with a clear warning. Stay away. And ever since Nathan had ripped her heart out and stomped the bloody, still-beating organ into the ground, Abby was all about instinct.
“Pleased to meet you.” She forced out a greeting and offered her hand. Only to have it grasped in a warm, two-handed grip. Marcus’s thumb grazed her wrist and her eyes flew upward.
All of his attention was centered on her. Oh. Shit. A small smile kicked at his lips and Abby’s breath caught, her heart stuttering back to life with a loud, lop-sided beat.
“No. Pleased to meet you.” His voice flowed around her like apple honey, a silky caress with just the right amount of bite.
