FULL TILT BOOGIE (ARKADIA #3)

FULL TILT BOOGIE                             LESLIE SCOTT

Breanna Casey has only ever wanted two things in life: to race and to get the hell out of Arkadia, Texas. Stifled beneath her family's turbo-charged reputation, she's got her thumb firmly on the self-destruct button. A night of hyper-driven racing and rebellion leads to a one night stand with the one guy who knows how to press all her buttons: Noah McKay.

Torn apart by the toll of his high-intensity enlistment in the Marines and guilt-ridden by what he's seen, Noah McKay left the military to find peace. A chance encounter sends him working for the parents of a raven-haired Amazon goddess with a tongue that cuts sharper than any knife. Quiet is the last thing he'll get.

Finally, she gets her chance. Calloway Racing wants her to drive for them. But that's not all they want. A good friend of her father's, Calloway insists she take Noah along for the ride. Suddenly, her dreams are feeling more like a nightmare. Will they be able to help each other, maybe even find love, when living life full tilt boogie?

MY REVIEW:

What an interesting story. Not at all what I am expecting. I remember going to a drag race as a kid and the thrill of it all. For me fulltime, I don’t think so, but for Breanna, it is her way of bonding with her dad and brother.

She knew she is not a girly-girl like her older sister who is born with breast and the curves and likes dancing lessons. She is more like her older brother and dad, tall, lean, and very little breast to speak of. She likes all things racing.

Yet, when her brother stopped racing for her dad who used to be a racer too, she was refused by her dad to even be given a chance. So, like her brother and his friends illegal street drags it is. It is their thing together.

Their minds are alike and they both love it. He just didn’t know that on top of being a vital part of his crew tuning and conditions. She would go to any lengths to get her to fix.

She was saving to get out of town to do what she wanted. Not living in the shadow or thumb of those in her life. Mainly, to find a place in the racing world, here they would never take her seriously as a driver. When she gets a call from a friend saying he needed a driver and knew she could drive and wanted to talk with her. She is beyond excited.

She is given a thumbs up for a tryout in two weeks to see how she works with the Christmas tree of lights. Yet, she keeps quiet. She wants to keep it as her own. But when she blew them away and signs with them for the remainder of the season, she has to tell her dad at some point. But how? When?

Well, her new boss being friends with her dad broke the news for her. Not good. She is not happy. Both men agree that Noah will be sent by her father as a bodyguard, for his peace of mind, and Noah is happy he thinks it is cute how her temper just blows. See how this all goes since her one and (badly) done with him makes this uncomfortable, so to speak, she is not happy, or is she?

I enjoyed the trouble that Brea’s mouth and temper can get her into. The only thing I wish is they would have addressed help for Noah's PTSD.
