Still the One (Animal Magnetism #6)

STILL THE ONE                                              JILL SHAVIS

Darcy Stone is game for anything — except sexy Navy veteran and physical therapist A.J. Colten, the guy who'd rejected her when she'd needed him most. Now the shoe is on the other foot and he needs her to play nice and help him secure grants for his patients. Unfortunately, Darcy can't refuse. She needs the money to fund her passion project: rescuing S&R dogs and placing them with emotionally wounded soldiers.

A.J. admits it — Darcy is irresistible. But he's already been battle-scarred by a strong-willed, vivacious, adventurous woman like Darcy, and he's not making the same mistake twice—until he and Darcy are forced to fake a relationship. Growing closer than they'd ever imagined possible, Darcy and AJ have to ask themselves: how much between them is pretend? What's the real thing? And where does it go from here?

PAT'S REVIEW

A story with two people that can drive other people crazy. What they do to each other they have to figure it out themselves. Darcy wears rock and roll tank tops and drives people away with her brash and harsh personality. The people that stay around are her brother and sister, Xander a friend and A. J. who was her Physical Therapist but now sees her as the strength for all that she has overcome and continued to every day. Both of them have issues from the past and each is running from anything that resembles a relationship. He enjoys driving her crazy with fake bacon, made from turkey. Darcy and his father both agree that it is wrong not made with pork. Most people can get Darcy to do things if you give her a bag of gummy bears, but make sure she is doing the task first before giving her the bag. For Darcy and A.J everything change when she goes with him for a weekend to Boise and the person they met thinks they are a couple. When they play it off and met his wife the day it becomes too real, and they both freak out. The difference is that when they get back he tells her about his ex and what had happened. Later when he tells her that he loves her she freaks out more. She does not think she is worthy of love. She saves rescue dogs who are being put out of service, but she does not think of herself as worth saving. When she finds out that A.J. walked away from grant money to rescue her again she has to show him that she loves him and is willing to take a risk as well. A very good book and as someone who deals with pain I could relate with Darcy and her daily living. Overall a very good book with good characters. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
